If you say so.

For everyone else as I don’t have time to reply individually, I’ll just leave this here.

You can’t buy time.

Look, I saw all this coming a long before most, I even posted here (link below) back on 12th Feb 2020 how bad was going to be (I was vocal weeks before to my friends and family) I was called a “plank” then.

For most people vaccination is the probably correct course of action. But partly because I am the oldest or the same age in my social circles (family abroad), partly due to me already having covid with no symptoms, partly due to the lack of known side effects to due time cause by the speed of getting this out, I don’t consider it worth the risk to me or those around me.

I’d rather carry on isolating in my circles when I want to, stay away from the footy, bars and the office and keep sanitising.

Theoretically, if someone told me they had a time machine and no side effects would come from the vaccine, or that the vaccine will not cause future issues I’d take it tomorrow, but they can’t so I’m not. If things get worse for the unvaccinated I’ll reconsider but the numbers I’m seeing (in deaths per vaccinated be unvaccinated as a %) aren’t making me.

This long message because I responded to someone about being hesitant!

Thalidomide is why we have trials now, designed to prevent it happening again so really is not even close to comparable.

Thalidomide wasn't a vaccine. It was a drug that got a licence over 60 years ago for treating morning sickness and certain other illnesses and was catastrophic for tens of thousands of pregnant women but is still used for the treatment of certain conditions. It bears no resemblance to Covid vaccines.

Something like 2.5 billion doses of the various Covid vaccines have been administered with minimal side effects.

Referencing thalidomide as a reason for not taking a vaccine is like referencing the safety record of a 1950s DeHavilland Comet Mk 1 (the one which had structural failures due to square windows) as justification for not getting on a brand new airliner in 2021.

There really is no comparison.

I might be way off side here but you strike me as someone who probably has high anxiety. Now it’s interesting because that is a medically recognised condition, so should someone with high anxiety be considered “medically exempt” from taking the vaccine. It’s a dilemma.

But it takes 9 months to have a baby, and this covid vaccine hasn’t even been available that long, so how have they tested this? It’s exactly comparable to Thalidomide, they overrode their own protocols to get it to the general public.

It’s exactly comparable to Thalidomide, they overrode their own protocols to get it to the general public in more than one area. You think it’s safe ,you take it, I don’t think the people who made it know the full answer to that but they’re not going to come out and say that now are they.

bluesteel,

If you're concerned about taking the vaccine whilst pregnant, or whilst you are trying to become pregnant, talk to your doctor.

COVID is high risk for pregnant women and their babies.

How long have you been pregnant?

If you want to know how they tested it, I'm sure you could find out if you could be arsed. If you think the drugs testing regime hasn't evolved over the last 60 years I can't help you any further.

Putting out scare stories based on no discernible knowledge of the subject isn't helpful.
