I fundamentally agree with this. I have had all my jabs and will get a booster. I have also had Covid (thankfully a mild dose). I don't agree with those who don't want to have the vaccine but I respect their right to make that choice. If they decide not to be jabbed then they will inevitably face travel restrictions as a consequence. But I don't agree with what is happening in Germany and Austria. It is bullying and sowing division in communities. I got Covid after being jabbed and so the idea that only unvaccinated people can transmit it is just false.

Your last point, it’s less likely you pass on, surely that’s the main thing.

I agree, in essence, but there is limited capacity in hospitals, everywhere, so the time is coming where doctors might have to prioritise who receives emergency care, and ethically that is going to be made particularly difficult in such circumstances.

Some countries have long since passed the point where the only consequences for individuals are the inconvenience of travel restrictions or forking out for their own tests, and the divisions in society are already there.

Part of the problem is that countries have shied away from discussing the harsh realities of what awaits when cases rise so quickly and capacity breaks.

So is allowing the voluntary unvaccinated to fill up the hospital beds and take resources away from others. It's a difficult situation but in this particular case I'd be tempted to follow Austria's route.

Too many thick cunts on Facebook spreading shite, you can’t compare a drug that failed 60 years ago to todays science and research. Thalidomide is still used btw, very powerful drug that has its uses even in this day and age.

If you read my comment I clearly stated that it was an ott example, just making it clear for anyone in doubt. If you're suggesting that I'm a 'thick cvnt' for making any comparison, then there is no point in debating with you.

Yes, some vaccinated people are in hospital. Vaccination isn't 100% protection. However, research has shown you're many more times likely to be in hospital if you're unvaccinated (17 times more likely if I remember correctly from text I quoted earlier) and 35 more times more likely to require intensive care.

I do think research has been done on how easy it is to transmit Covid (jabbed or unjabbed) and I think the jury is still out on the issue. However it does seem very clear that jabbed people who get Covid don't get as seriously ill as the unjabbed. So the argument about extra strain on the NHS from those who are unjabbed is probably valid. That said my family members who work in the NHS tell me the beds crisis is mostly down to shortage of beds and staff and Covid is essentially being used as a smokescreen for a broader NHS crisis.
Covid has been a very divisive issue but I think the truth, as is always the case, seems to lie somewhere in the middle of the debate.

Fair point, well made. I would like a lot more information and guarantees of efficacy etc prior to even considering the Draconian measures put forward in Austria and soon to be, Germany.

Too many people want to jump on the 'lock them up' or 'force them' bandwagon with relatively little information either to the efficacy of the vaccines or the medium to long time side effects.

As I asked earlier, how would you feel having forced people to take the jab, only to find out in the future that there are some unforeseen, nasty complications and resultant deaths? I'm not suggesting for a single second that that will be the outcome obviously, just making it clear that nothing is clear cut.

The NHS problem at the moment is dealing with patients who haven't had other stuff sorted over the last two years due to Covid and it becomes semi-serious or serious and then folks have to be admitted.
Hence the ambulance shortages etc.
Hospitals may have had 35k Covid patients at the peak in January but there just isn't the room now leaving around 15k-18k beds free max now.

The ambulance problem is the dicks who phone up with a stubbed toe and ask for an ambulance, you only have to watch the numerous tv programs to see that we have become a nation of self entitled twats. Amazing that in first lockdown that A&E was quiet because people were afraid to go for minor crap, screen the calls tell them they ain’t getting an ambulance unless their leg is hanging off and get a taxi.
