Not too many.

Hospital capacity is sized to treat expected ailments of the late 20th century - and is easily overwhelmed by a pandemic.

Who cares, you might say?

Well, urgent medical care in the face of a severe COVID infection is key to reducing deaths to the 1% or so figure. As hospitals become swamped with ever more patients, those needing urgent care and who would not die should they receive such care - die because there's no room for them.
Great post, sometimes the immediacy of the need is lost.

Been trying to book a pcr test for 3 days now, none available in my area but i can get one 50 miles away ha.
How the fcuk does this all work then ?
Have a continuous cough for 4 weeks now, can't sleep etc.
GP won't see me until i've had a pcr test, not every chest complaint is fcuking covid ffs.

Lingers is pretty much spot on. Haha!! Covid diet! Just keep on battling matey, least I don't have to lie about the wife's cooking for a bit. Food does feel weird like I'm eating random things from around the house.
When I had it in October 2020 I had a Diet Coke, tasted of cigarette ash, very weird, stuck my hooter in a tangerine for several days to test my taste and smell, not very strong but after a couple of weeks back to normal apart from being knackered for around two months afterwards.

A total of 755 deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 17 December mentioned COVID on the death certificate, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

This is down 1% on the previous week and is the lowest number of deaths since the week to 15 October, when the total was 713.

My sister and her husband tested positive yesterday, i've had a chesty/tickly cough for about three days now and they've run out of LFTs down the pharmacy, my Mum has also been full of cold for about a week. Taking no chances

In Israel, people starting to appreciate that science really cannot stop Omicron and that other government measures will have precious little effect.
Be careful as you’re in dangerous territory of being called anti-science, anti-vaxx and a ‘covid denier’ with statements like that!

As for your statement, its not just Omicron but coronaviruses in general which cannot be stopped by either of those methods you mentioned..

Nobody says it can be stopped. It can be mitigated though.
