What's your fucking point here? Countries aren't just knocking out boosters for the sake of it. They're being administered as - like Sam said - they're deemed necessary. Talk of a 4th jab (second booster) in Israel is probably because they were pretty much the first country in the world to do boosters and so those getting their booster early on will probably now be experiencing waning immunity just as Omicron is exploding around the world.

None of your lot ever moaned about millions of people getting the flu jab in the UK every year so what's your fucking problem with boosters?
because there's minimal commercialised propaganda for a flu jab and most normal people don't bother with it and are free to go about their day with no restrictions if they catch flu. There's no stigma attached to not having a flu jab and people are treated the same whether they've had one or not.

Extend the same courtesy to Covid boosters and there'd be less of an issue. Instead we get "everyone must get boostered" propaganda yet the triple jabbed still catch it, still transmit it, still isolate and thus far no evidence in normal people that they're any better off than someone who's double-jabbed.

So either treat it as a flu jab and target the old and vulnerable and leave everyone else be to live their lives, or stop having a dig when you want to treat it differently with little weight behind you.

Absolutely. I felt shite for 3 days after my booster last month so I’d prefer to have them as infrequently as possible, preferably not at all.

But I’ll trust the experts on this because, well, I’m not so fucking stupid to that I know better about immunology than them.
But Mike on Twitter said...

Not going to plan down under, or is it ?

"‘A shambolic mess’: the only example Australia is giving the world now is how not to manage Covid | Coronavirus | The Guardian" https://amp.theguardian.com/comment...ving-the-world-now-is-how-not-to-manage-covid

Zero covid never was and still isn’t a viable strategy as it has no exit plan. That article is beyond bizarre as it ends by saying stopping transmission is the only way out which of course will never be possible forever.

interesting that the article is railing against the "let it rip" policy, which some people seem to be advocating here.
It seems to being ok so far for us and we're in the middle of winter. With the southern hemisphere being in the middle of summer, it's possibly the best shot they have at preventing a possible winter onslaught.

That's just a flat-out lie.

Negligible impact, young people catching Covid the most yet not ending up in hospital. If they all needed a booster, we'd have mass influx of young people into hospital. We don't. It's old people who everyone can agree needed the boosters.

If it was all booster driven, the older population would be a much lower proportion of those in hospital, they aren't.

Regarding Djokovic......how has he received an exemption to allow him to compete in the Australian Open?

My dad and his partner (both in their 60s, my dad is also diabetic and has had two heart attacks) tested negative today.

Both of them had symptoms no worse than a small sniffle. Before covid the kind of sniffle you wouldn't even bother mentioning to anyone.

The vaccines work.

Initial feedback from the Israelis on the 4th Booster with respect to the impact on antibody levels.

I believe Biontech had said that efficacy levels dropped to around 25% after 3 months on Omicron after the 3rd shot (booster) - Not sure how this plays out going forward then if the focus is solely on antibody levels rather than relying more on t-cells etc

Israeli study finds fourth vaccine dose boosts antibodies five-fold

A fourth dose of Covid vaccine boosts antibodies five-fold a week after the shot is administered, the Israeli prime minister, Naftali Bennett, said on Tuesday, citing preliminary findings of an Israeli study.
“A week into the fourth dose we know to a higher degree of certainty that the fourth dose is safe,” Bennett said at Sheba Medical Centre, which is giving second booster shots in a trial among its staff amid a nationwide surge in Omicron variant infections.
“The second piece of news: we know that a week after administration of a fourth dose, we see a five-fold increase in the number of antibodies in the vaccinated person,” he told reporters.
“This most likely means a significant increase against infection and ... hospitalisation and (severe) symptoms,” Bennett said in English.

That's the Guardian for you.
People in every Western country have been offered vaccinations and Omicron is pretty mild compared with previous incarnations of Covid (thank goodness). Only the sheer volume of cases makes it a risk to the health services through staff illness.
It us so transmissible that pretty much everyone will catch it regardless of restrictions (compare Scotland with England) so I'm not sure what benefit there is from not "Letting it rip" except for protecting the unvaccinated.
sorry they made their choice and need to isolate, like those who can't be vaccinated, or are at risk, till it is past.
