Coronavirus (2022) thread

276 all settings UK deaths - down from 552 last week (but see my caveat on this yeterday - this is not a huge fall though it probably is a small one)

England only 242 - down from 519. Same caveat.

Deaths still not low but they are now clearly falling.

Full details of each country and England regions is on the data thread for anyone wanting to see.

68,214 cases - up by 2031 from 66,183 yesterday and down 24.380 from 92,594 last week.

England only 59,193 - up by 740 from 58,453 yesterday and down by 22,253 from 81,446 last week

I have such little faith in this Government. I'm certain the only reason Boris is removing the isolation requirements is to give himself a bit of positive PR to try and save his job.

We're still at 60k+ cases per day announcing that change today could encourage people to stop isolating themselves right now, rather than following the rules until March. I'm happy that we're in the endgame, but I don't know if we could be pulling the trigger prematurely - surely the ideal time would be the beginning of April when the weather starts picking up?

Yes, there may or there may not be good scientific reasons for lifting some restrictions. Either way though boris isn’t doing it for any reason other than to try and distract and save his own skin.
