Coronavirus (2022) thread

Impending financial doom? The economy is up 7.5% in the last year, back to levels just 2% below where they were before the pandemic started. We are currently experiencing the fastest economic growth we’ve had since the end of World War 2.

We’ve never been in a lockdown at any point during the pandemic, and the more strict restrictions that were coined a “lockdown” ended 11 months ago (almost 12, as it was 5th March 2021).

Economy up 7.5% whilst inflation is going up to 7.5% and wages not going up at all yeah proper growth that??? I think you need some financial planning help

Mare I build predictive models as my full time job I know exactly what they are. They are guesses.
And I’m sure you’re an excellent modeller, fantastic at your job. But you don’t know what a guess is.

If I remember correctly, the ONS reports real GDP rather then nominal so it is adjusted for inflation.
However, you may be correct about the impending storm. Paying people to stay at home and bake banana bread isn’t going to be consequence free.

Were we supposed to bake banana bread? Fuck, somebody should have told me!! I just sunbathed, smoked more weed than usual and shagged a lot.
Can you send me the ingredients please?

They assumed omicron was as severe as delta despite the data from SA indicating it wasn't, they considered this data then dismissed it as not applicable to the UK. That was where they went wrong. Either way it was a mistake.
Yep, that video of an incredulous Angelique Coetzee questioning why the UK wasn’t listening to their findings on Omicron as they were about a month ahead on the variant. She said it’s mild, from a young person to an 80 year old. Kranky and Drakeford are the ones who need to be called out, they ruined the festive season for no reason at all. The evidence Omicron was mild was out there, it was ignored, shame on those trying to predict otherwise.

Thank god for the tories steering us through it, never thought I'd say that.
