Coronavirus (2022) thread

My old fella has tested positive this morning. Neither my mum or myself have tested positive yet but I'm expecting it's in the post, how can it not be after I just spent a week with them?

Did quite well to last two years, it was bound to happen.

The local BBC North West news today had a big report on Covid for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Saying much of what I posted in here yesterday. And citing a lot of the numbers.

We actually have quite a few more patients in hospital V the same date last year. When it was falling and today it is rising.

Ventilators though are still well down on that date last year and also still just about falling.

So it is mostly a cases rise with a small uptick of those in hospital WITH covid but not necesaarily because of covid.

If it stays that way until this wave peaks again - as it will in a week or two probably - then given the nature of these things we should be OK.

But yes new variants are there are and will be in need of monitoring probably indefinitely until we get that new breed of vaccinations into arms that can cope easily with mutations.

It’s probably for the best that Covid remains on the back burner for a while. People were losing their minds over figures that didn’t require minds to be lost over.

Let them be experts in warfare in Ukraine for a while whilst the scientists get on with the job of monitoring Covid and reappearing as/if and when they need to.

I spent a week abroad with the Mrs and She tested positive when we got back, I didn’t catch it. Spent a whole weekend with my grandkids he tested positive on the Monday and my wife grand daughter and me didn’t get it. It’s bloody weird tbh.

China has ordered a lockdown of a city of nine million people due to a spike in COVID cases.

Under the rules announced today, residents of the northeastern city of Changchun are required to remain at home, with one family member permitted to venture out to buy food and other necessities every two days.

Changchun residents must also undergo three rounds of mass testing, while non-essential businesses have been closed and transport links suspended.

China reported another 397 cases of local transmission nationwide on Friday, 98 of them in Jilin province that surrounds Changchun, a centre of the country's auto industry.
The irony of other countries opening up whilst the original source of the virus, allegedly, locks down...
