There is only so much we can do. I recognise that LFTs aren’t 100% accurate, but it’s the least I can do to take one before visiting.

Yeah that's been my opinion for over a year now, bought some tests just in case, but actually getting a PCR confirmation now seems impossible, but I suspect as we head into winter that may have to change.

I've had an autumn booster so I'm less worried, but I will still protect my parents obviously.

It’s all we’ve ever been able to do. Hopefully the new variants continue to be less intrusive on the lungs.

Tested positive this morning.

Not been feeling great since Thursday but last night started to get a sore throat and a bad headache and also a cough.

Can still smell and taste but I feel like shit

Every hospital in the UK is under significant pressure and a new Covid surge is “a very heavy straw on the camel’s back”, health leaders have warned.

At least eight hospitals declared a critical incident, cancelled operations or asked people not to come to A&E unless they were seriously ill last week. One of Britain’s most senior emergency doctor said there were links between incidents like these and the rapid rise in hospitalisations for covid,up nearly 37% in a week to 7,024. While the Office for National Statistics said it was too early to say if an autumn Covid wave had begun, health leaders said ministers need to urgently address staffing shortages.


Dr Adrian Boyle, the incoming president of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine told the Observer: “Our system is under-resourced. We don’t have enough beds, and we don’t have the workforce for the demand that we’re being asked to deal with.

Someone at works got it. They asked if anyone was bothered if they came in and nobody objected. people just view it the same as a cold now ( some did all along)

We've had 3 from a team of 7 come down with it in the last 7 days (all tested +ve), none of them seem connected either, as mostly worked from home, or been on leave. I work in a mixed office, where we have military, and civilian together in a not particularly good environment with low ceilings, and no natural ventilation just air conditioning, the miltary side of the office are basically being told to "not test", and not isolate.

I'm also wondering if omicron has just morphed into a new form of "cold" (which is after all a different coronovirus), and that people are testing +ve with colds.

I know more are going into hospital etc, but is that just vulnerable people, and/or those not vaccinated ?

How soon after a positive home test can you have the vaccine? I have the vaccine booked in about 10 days, but after 2 days of my head exploding feeling like flu, I've just done home test and it's postive. Pretty nervous about getting ill.. :(
I know I'll have to cancel my appt but how long am I meant to wait, symptoms started 2 days ago, positive home test this morning. Prob got it at the derby :(

I'm letting myself panic a little, I'm not the strongest person health wise at the best of times, live with my 6 year old son and 52 year old fella, in a small flat, where he works at home all day. And my 79 year old mum, who has copd and can also barely walk was with me at the derby :(

Think it used to be 28 days after having had Covid (28 days from symptoms ending rather than starting I think) but not sure if that's still the case
