Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Baffled by spit the dog's latest comments. He's said good job it's only six positive tests in the premier league, twenty or so would have been a problem?

Aside from being insensitive and self centred, not to mention that certain teams are now at a disadvantage for a June restart, will it actually take a passing before these sections of the media and footballing bodies stop pushing for the league to be completed at all costs?

What about ten, would that be an ok number Jamie? Fifteen? What about if two of those were Salah and Van Dyke? Still ok?

You're not saying phlegmy has become morally compromised!

Simple point. If the work place can be made safe, why have they only made the Male side of the work place safe ? Isnt that sexist ?

If it can be made safe for premier league players , why not all professional players regardless of sex. All professional league should be starting.

The Unions should be over this
Because it costs the PL £4m to provide the (current) 1600 tests. Women are probably not worth it

Champions League?

They've only just started to discuss that in earnest haven't they? Since the Athletico match all the media have talked about is how they can hand the title to the scousers. Believe me if they'd have gotten through that match instead of being dumped out we'd have been served up a dose of handing that to them too.

Are you telling me that Liverpool are out of the Champions League?

Football is a spectator sport I tried to watch the German games at the weekend and turned off.
This is from someone who will watch Yeovil v Stevenage if they were on TV and walks to the playing fields on a Sunday to watch 22 blokes nursing hangovers kick a ball around because I love the game.
It just ain't the same.

Good read on the current impact of returning to football after inactivity. Main point is that Bundesliga teams have matched their average distance covered pre-lockdown (with extra substitutes), but more than tripled the injury rate going from 0.27 injuries per game to 0.88.
Report actually says that only half matched their average distance covered and only 56% matched their sprinting volume. Quite a telling stat.
