Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

The bosses of the Premier League have said on more than one occasion that if the don't finish this season the integrity of the Premier League will have be compromised. Well they need to take along hard look at the decision that they have made. By not completing the reverse fixtures, with crowds present the integrity of the Premier League has gone completely out of the widow.

The whole of the Premier League board should do us all a favour and resign on mass. I also mean the new head Mr Richard Masters. Surely he must realise that for the Premier League to retain it's integrity, it can only complete the reverse fixtures when it is safe to do so. The only option is to call it null and void. Then they can concentrate all their efforts on a normal restart around the 12th August.

Yes football without fans is a poor imitation but if we can complete the season then we can look forward to a more regular season next time round.
There's now talk of a possible "phased return" for fans for next season - I believe Russia are also starting this next month with 10% of seats being occupied in the stadium. Be interesting to see how that's managed should the Premier League follow suit! Who gets priority on the 5,500 tickets available for our first home game should that be the case??? That would be some topic on here!!

I think many blues, myself included, who are indifferent to or bang against the season being finished are to some extent motivated by the sickening prospect of the fawning media wankstorm to come if Liverpool win the league but what really rankles is the lack of fairness.

Sport is “war minus the shooting” - it’s a serious business but without integrity it becomes meaningless. You can’t change the rules half way through a competition in the manner of a parent changing the rules of a party game for toddlers to let the birthday girl win.

Bad news for sporting integrity = bad news for the dippers. They were gonna win it anyway, all that these various rule changes do is increase the size of that asterisk.

Because you have to watch something to say it is shit. If you watched them and thought that, ok, that's an opinion.
I have watched 4 matches , 2 of which I have thought were really good, 1 ok , the other was poor.
Oh right, yeah if i had said it was shit without watching it then i'd be a bit of a dick (i am tbf). I didn't enjoy any of the matches i've seen, they were the first Dortmund game and then Dortmund vs Bayern M. Games felt completely flat, like pre season matches, and just seemed like players not wanting to extend themselves and maybe even being physically unable to.

Kippaxian the league in Hungary has already let fans back into the stadiums. If you sit on the aisle seat the next seat to be occupied is the seat 4 to you left/right depending on where the seat is occupied. Then you have to go back 3 rows and then it is the 2nd seat from the aisle just to keep the 2mtr distance rule and so right around the stadium.
