Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Don't do anything then, ever. No the Premier League is not a special case so do not make it so.

It's 'safe' to play sport outdoors. The measured sample of people who tested positive for the virus in the week 24 May to the 30 May was 0.11%. That's 1 in 1000 and this is profoundly an illness that badly affects the old and the immune-compromised. Even if hitherto healthy young adults were equally affected there are very few footballers who have tested positive for the virus.

Instead of having a blanket lockdown, and pretending that this virus affects everyone equally, we should recognise what has been obvious for months: this virus overwhelms a number of elderly, particularly if they have other conditions that leave them immune-compromised. Focus on protecting the weak and the vulnerable in society. That is what a welfare system is supposed to be for.

Nice, so as a person who has a compromised immune system I don't count as a fan anymore because I can get welfare. Elderly fans who have gone for years are no longer required, so fuck them off too. Maybe start having fitness tests before you are allowed into games. Why not a full medical, or you can only attend with a doctor and nursing team. You missed the adverse affects on the BAME community, so we best only have white English players too and if you are not pure blood white English, you cant attend as a fan either. City end up being a team of white English 21 year olds.

Football becomes the preserve of those fortunate to be in perfect health rather than the worlds game.

I am sure this would appeal to a lot of people, not me though, I want football to be played and watched by everyone when it is safe to do so, at the moment it is not safe and the R is on the rise in the NW again, indicating the possibility of a second wave.

Just out of interest, which Premier League clubs have officially confirmed that someone within it has had Covid? I can think of Arsenal, Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester, Spurs and Watford. Am I missing anyone?

That's enough mate,

The Govt today are stressing that people should not meet in groups of more than 6 people.

Quiz question for the Govt and the PL ….How many players are there in a football team?

Will these rules mean that from a corner there can only be a maximum of 6 players in the area, socially distanced of course, so forget man marking and who chooses which 6 are allowed in the area?

The subs bench with all these new subs allowed will stretch the length of the pitch if they are socially distanced.

How will players challenging for a 50/50 ball socially distance?

How many dressing rooms will each team need, as only a maximum of 6 can be in the dressing at one time?

Will the players have to wash their hands after they take a throw in?

Will match commentators be working from home if the game is on the TV?

So thousands are being allowed to protest across the Uk. Please somebody explain to me why fans can not go into stadiums ?

What is the difference

We are football fans

In tory eyes football fans = hooligan scum

I was thinking as well, if we are to ever play the 2nd leg of the Real Madrid CL game, under Priti Vacants rules, the Madrid squad will have to isolate for 14 days on arrival into the uk, unless I have missed a clause saying football teams are exempt. If we win that game then if we leave the country then surely our squad will have to isolate for 14 days on return from a subsequent away leg in the next round. Then if we get to the final and fans are allowed to attend everyone had best book a long time off work because you will have to isolate for 14 days on return or risk a huge fine.

Its the perfect excuse for those notoriously fair minded UEFA officials to move the final to whoever lines their pockets with the most gold, Qatar for instance or irony of ironies Wuhan in China.

rascal,its a bot

marvin isn't a person ,marvin is a bot, I wouldn't engage , it will repeat its self over and over again, with no emotion for people or the game, infact it doesn't give a fuck if people die as long as it can watch soulless football

Cancelled Sky Sports today with Virgin Media, not prepared to watch football played in an empty stadium.
Yep, completely and utterly pointless. Going to be interesting on the match day threads when it returns, to see how
many people are still bothered with footy.

Footballers don’t have to isolate for 14 days if they travel here, conveniently

I was watching a couple of games in the night and our players are huggers, the not celebrating together will take away the joy of it,i just can't imagine all that not happening,it will be like a pre-season games where they don't bother celebrating gosls, imagine a last minute winner against madrid and they just wave at each other,it is depressing what I watched last night won't be happening, what is the point,no joy and no fans
