Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I know they are tested regularly and until such times the testing is 100% accurate, the risk exists. I see you too are just concentrating on the players and not the hundreds of others necessary to put each game on. They have just kicked into touch kids going back to school because they cannot accommodate a 2m safety distance, yet footballers are exempt from this rule.

The others needed will be kept 2 metres apart though and will not go in any areas that the players go. The clubs would not agree to play if there was any serious risk here, do you think they would risk a 100 million pound asset? They just wouldn't.

Playing football in the way they have is the very least of our worries when we have shopping centres reopening, thousands protesting and people generally disregarding the basic advice being given.

I hope you are right and that there is proven to be no risk but at the moment, that is not assured imo

The VE celebrations, Bank Holiday Gatherings , beauty spot crowding and latterly the London protests, will prove how infectious the virus is. Perhaps more of us have had the virus and we are unaware?. Was expecting to see a spike but it doesn't seem to be happening. In terms of football, what goes on from now to the end of the 'season' is comparable to a normal season and so many factors have changed it's become a separate competition altogether. Final stages of cup competitions are have also changed but to a lesser extent . Protests have shown that the police will be powerless to prevent crowds gathering to celebrate Liverpool winning and being crowned most points accumulated.
Shame for our womens team losing out on a ppg calculation. I'm a bit depressed to be honest because it looks like the mother in law will be staying in our bubble for a few weeks now. Looking forward to having the central heating on high and all doors closed. Our 15 year old dog is already on his last legs, he wont see the end of lockdown in such heat

It’s more to do with how it effects the young not much and the old and the vulnerable who have been in lock down for 3 months.
