Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Sorry to hear you having such a hard time,it is wretched isn't it,you have my very best wishes that you all come through safely

Yep football would be a great distraction but that is not going to happen anytime soon,it is weird really because i have loads recorded but i am not watching much,it seems such a long time ago since we last saw them play, life has changed so much

I think this is some kind of reset for football and fans,it was so corrupt, pigmol looked after the dippers all season,it is quite beautiful if they dont get the title after the effort everyone put in to help them

I will go back to city without a shower of a doubt,i hope it is soon
Thank you for your kind wishes. Yes a fresh start would be very interesting and I hope as many of us as possible get to see at least a restart if not a clean start.

hopefully you’ll be fine, stay safe. Respect to your wife, people who work in supermarkets, delivery drivers, postmen and women, all highly deserving of our respect for carrying on even though they might prefer to stay at home like the rest of us....
Thank you for your kind wishes. There are indeed a great many unsung heroes/heroines helping to keep things ticking over, hopefully we all get through this safely.

I’ve believed for months now that the only viable outcome is for the season to be voided. However too much triumphalism from blues about this is misguided and small-minded. I believe we have the best team and squad in Europe, and we were just lining up to finish the season with a squad that was finally full strength. We were in the process of putting RM to the sword and our bogey team we’re out. I think we’d have won it, and I think that was the dream for Sergio, silva and Fernandinho, and probably their last chance. So whilst it will be piss funny singing “you nearly won the league” at the scousers one day, let’s not forget that this could have been a historic season for us and some of our legends too.

Absolutely, but I'll settle for being misguided, small minded and not dead of covid thanks. I'd no more want the season to continue to finish the fa cup or CL than the league tbh. Right now keeping this virus at bay is the priority and the dippers losing out when they had it in the bag and the tshirts printed (again) is just a bonus.

Of course it’s the only sensible outcome but
it hurts City as much as anybody else, especially if the ban is upheld.

Indeed, but even if it is and we are out for two years it's just a pretty spiteful act that slows things down, but in no way puts us back to 2008.

All that is true but i am afraid we just have to suck it up and say there is nothing we can do also you are thinking that we would have a full team, there is very little chance nobody would not be sick or isolating, one in the whole camp means they all would have to isolate, covid is not going away any time soon, ideas of testings players before every game including coaches, physio etc etc is neither practical nor should we take tests away from patients and staff, yes it would be fun to laugh at the dippers but as we would lose a lot as well,i am afraid a pandemic trumps football, old rules cannot apply this year

Playing the Scousers at a neutral 'closed ground' would be like CSKA away.

Jimmy the kit man and his 30,000 mates sitting in the ground watching it.

It just makes the season we win everything even more sweeter.
