Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Surely if Sky and BT tried to claim money back it would cause a domino effect? Wouldn't all the companies that paid for advertising space try to claim money back off of Sky and BT? And all the people who paid for subscriptions? And so on?

8 people dead in and around Atalanta Bergamo says my newspaper. This kills also the young and healthy.

By hook or by crook those fuck knuckles in charge will get their season going again.
It won’t be anything I bother watching so not arsed at this point how they manage it.

I’m not sure they will, press trying to keep themselves and football centre stage when many people just don’t care. I can’t say I’ve missed football at all, maybe that will change when we’re over the other side of this.

As time goes on, the PL won’t be quite so united in their desire to continue, some have more to gain if the season is null and void- bottom 6/7 would probably go for this, as would Spurs, maybe Arsenal? Kane already putting a deadline on how long they should play, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the unofficial spokesperson based on his communications with England teammates.

Yes, this seems to have been overlooked. Also, it would be an absolute disaster from a PR point of view if Sky actually sued clubs over this, and risked bankrupting some of them in the process.
Maybe this would be the push for the premier league to stream their own games and fuck SKY off completely

I already stopped going to the games despite having a season ticket because of the corrupt way Var was being used, I was waiting to see what changes they would make for next season before I packed it in for good . The brazen way they are trying to finish the season with the main focus being money is disgusting. The football authorities have shown their true face while people are dying , sickening , I’m done with the game now.

I am going to do about 10/15 city home games next season 1/2 aways and on the other weekends do local non leagues and lower league and visit new grounds in my attempt to join the 92 club. Love city to bits but feel the need to spend a couple of quid supporting clubs who will have had no income and also most importantly watch games without Var for my own sanity.

Make no mistake they will find some crazy way to finish this season. Liverpool winning the league and united trying for top 4. There is no chance they are not letting it finish.

So when this virus scare is all over and football returns to normality does anyone think there will be changes to the football world ?
can see the likes of Sky and BT trying to bring the cost of the football packages down as they wont want to be exposed again to paying huge sums of money out for no product . Maybe the prem will try and take more control of the football coverage with a netflix style PPV who knows ?

My guess is that they will be and some of them may go even go bust, but even if not then their revenue will plummet anytime soon. Subscriber numbers will be going down as well, some may not even come back. I miss football like mad during the summer months, but due to the shit with VAR and the media I was seriously considering next season anyhow. I'm not missing it at all during the current shutdown the only football activity is coming on here
