Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

If they play behind closed doors next season, they will, have to reduce tv prices and certainly not increase them, if sky and BT put prices up, clubs should not allow it, it should be part of the agreement to carry on.so everyone can afford it or indeed see it, there are lots myself included who don’t have Sky.

Thing is, people will be saving money on season tickets.
If you don't have SKY/BT then the only (legit) football you are currently getting is by attending. Some people will be quids in on the season ticket money saved.
Another point is families with more than one season ticket holder will be saving even more.
Clubs may even be allowed to sell their own (streamed) matches to previous season ticket holders (for a fee). I'm sure these type of things are being discussed.

Flexibility is going to be key. That means by everybody including clubs/supporters and the PL/Broadcasters.

To be honest, what evidence do we actually have to support that it has an impact on 3pm games on a Saturday? Has it impacted attendances at the 12pm games or the late games...? If anything, it's the midweek games that should not be televised - that has the most impact.

Free premier league on TV in the pub or £20 for a league 2 game on a Saturday afternoon?

The premier league clubs already dominate most towns, and it would get worse in any reasonable estimation for lower league clubs if they had direct competition for every game at much cheaper prices for he premier league.

Football is in leisure industry and they are saying pubs will be shut till Xmas at least with restaurants, cinemas and other places of gatherings last on the list.
Boris is the only world leader to be effected worse by this virus so he will be reluctant to open up in case of a second wave.

I can see a deal being worked out between Sky/ BT with the premier league and EFL so that the clubs keep broadcasting monies for this season on the basis that every match in the premier league is broadcast next season.

Said this up thread. Football isn't dead but when this is over the 3pm blackout will be.

That is not what has been said.
I don't like correcting people, but what was actually said was Pubs will be unlikely to open until July, with them not getting back to normal until at least christmas.
