I really don’t think football being played in empty stadiums is going to actually lift the national mood when the death toll is in the tens of thousands. As much as I love football, it couldn’t be any less important in the scheme of things at the moment.
That’s fine by me. I’m not sure it will lighten the mood but at least I can get the gang around for BBQs every Sunday and party while those lovely carer’s are agonising on whether to put another victim into a coma. I’m just hoping that the motorway services are open as some of my attendees will be making a bit of a journey and, whilst they’re at it, they’ll have to stop off for some extra tinny’s at the local off’y, as surely they’ll be open. Obviously the bin men will be back to normal collections as well as they’ll need to empty my recycling where everybody’s DNA will be lingering around the handle and wasted material.
For those who are worried about empty seats and leaving early, To confirm, I won’t be watching our game on TV, I’ll be down outside the ground supporting my team from outside. The BBQ will be coming afterwards as a way of celebrating with the team/family/friends/colleagues. I will have to sign up to BT and Sky though, they’ve got the rights so if I actually want to see some football then I’ll have to shell out, on top of my SC. But, eh-oh, at least I can catch the Government daily update of the death toll before I flick to the newly scheduled 430 kick-off, just to lighten the mood. You know, It’s almost as if this situation was made for/by them, all perfectly planned.
As I say, that’s fine by me. All perfectly normal with life back to what it was.
