Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I don't understand either. Any attempt to finish this season will delay the start of the next one and create immediate problems in starting añd finishing the next one and the virus and its effects will still be around for months irrespective of when some clowns want to restart.

Fools rush in #
In a way i'm glad we are in second place this season. if we were top again I know I could not get any joy out of winning the title when so many people worldwide have died because of this virus. If they do play it to completion, I wonder how the rest of the country, apart from the media, would react to scouse celebrations that to me would be nothing more than dancing on the graves of covid victims.

Clearly the risks are way too high to even contemplate a return of any kind for the foreseeable, meaning those lot up the East Lancs Road aren’t going to be crowned Champions any time soon.

Football pales into insignificance when you consider what else is at stake but having characters like Daniel Levy, Sepp Blatter, Michel Platini amongst many others involved in our beautiful game is there any surprise that these wankers care little for the lives of others over dirty money?

There will be utter carnage economically for all of us unfortunately along with a new way of living, strange times.

As for the Carabao Cup it’s ours....it happened, absolutely nothing changes that.

The FA and those who want it to restart are doing so for their own personal reasons and not giving a shit about anyone else,,someone somewhere will die by starting this up or more than one, it may be a kit mans mother or the father of one of the TV crews or someone completly out of footbal,how can even one persons life be woth the risk

Premier League clubs are building up to restarting games on the weekend of June 13, and are beginning to tell staff that there are plans to try and start fixtures again. Clubs also want to have a three week pre-season ahead of resuming games. [
@MirrorFootball

There is no certainty of WHEN but there is a growing feeling that the #PL are ready to push ahead with games behind closed doors but also potentially at neutral venues. The Premier League will also discuss coronavirus testing procedures on Friday.

The Premier League has told clubs to consider recalling players from abroad, with a view to returning to training next month. [
@MailSport

Not happening - I will lay good odds there will be outbreaks in the training camps well before any set date to resume.

That will be the end of it - takes only one player or a club like West Ham or Brighton to not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Yeah but who decides when it is safe? Boris fookin Johnson?

If you heard him on Monday morning there is no way he is going to risk even the chance of a second phase taking hold and killing the same amount of people again ,if not more. Football will come back when his massed panel of experts say it can.
