Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

...A couple of foreign charity shields...

More invitational tournaments. In fact it's probably harder to win the Premier League Asia Trophy than that supposed 'World Club Cup', whilst the UEFA Super Cup is the equivalent of a 2 team kick-about between the FA Cup Winners and the FA Trophy Winners!

Given how much money goes to each of the PL/EFL clubs based on placing at the end of the season, if the season is null and void they cannot conceivably be given any money, therefore very interestingly handicapping several clubs from keeping afloat, out of debt, paying off debt, or even putting toward new signings.

The impact of this is staggering but compared to human life it’s a no brainier to me. Why not just for once, those spineless, arrogant, money grabbing, cheating so called protectors of our national game, think logically, (I know) divide those funds up equally for each division from the leagues and cups and give to those clubs that will inevitably suffer hardship and potential winding up orders. Football won’t matter soon anyway. This is not going to go away in a month or two, this could take 12-18 months to get to grips with.
The number of new cases in South Korea went from 700 a day to around 100 a day in the course of a week. The peak can form and collapse in a very short time.

You are right it will be with us for months, if not forever given that it's in animals and is going to constantly mutate, but we'll have a vaccine soon. And I read this morning that in Africa they are working on producing a test that can provide a result in ten minutes.

I have no idea , but have read somewhere that the rules state , if a season can't be finished the season is void. Don't know where to look for the rules but they must be out there somewhere.

There will be a resident stato lurking...?

I have no idea, but cannot see a vote occuring
The newspaper report I read, a few weeks ago admittedly so I can’t remember where, suggested that unless the season reaches a normal conclusion there would have to be one. Simply because the existing rules do not specify how they would deal with a truncated season. The article argued that the PL’s main priority would be be to avoid the inevitable legal challenges from succeeding. To achieve that they would have to follow their existing approaches as far as possible, which is where the two thirds majority comes in.

If nobody sees Liverpool win the league, did it even happen? I’m saying no.

I would be content Liverpool being awarded the League and being unable to beat our points records.

The FA Cup could be played out in the Summer when hopefully the virus is causing less damage. We could pull out if the euros as a nation.

Thank you for the comments and graphics Marvin, we can see what South Korea has done and also China with drastic measures not draconian as the media keep stating. Unfortunately our peak will be in the next 4-8 weeks in my opinion, and I am not a medical person, like you just really concerned, it’s the fact that vaccines are around 12-18 months away that worries me more, and we get to winter and the situation raises its head again. Apparently there is a test I believe can be currently done in 6 hours. Anyway stay healthy and well.
