Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Agreed. The players need to grasp the initiative as it's clearly not safe to even train properly, let alone play. The irony of the media's approach is that it's clearly gone the other way. We're not being worn down by hopes of a potential restart, we're worn out with the obvious lunacy of it. I know that I am.

And it fits with the idea, long-held by many fans, that the game is run by lunatics! I read the other day that those who have just exercised to the point where heart is pumping and lungs are bursting run the risk of sucking in the virus to the deepest part of yer lungs.

I dont disagree with most of what you say but many men me definitely included do not to admit to being 'scared' no matter how they feel.
There are plenty of more 'manly' alternatives and perhaps the Spanish word did. But 'scared' is the word they ran with and they ran it in big black headlines.
“Manly alternatives” to the word scared? Just what on Earth are you trying to say? That only women can be scared of a global pandemic? That any man that gets scared should feel ashamed? I’m really not sure what point you are making, but I’m confident that it’s an old-fashioned, bollocks one.

And yet some will say we are overacting.

I am of the opinion the loudest voices for Football to return, ignoring the advice of experts, trash talking those who urge caution. All have ulterior motives.

* Not sure how accurate this is.I have been told France has extended their lock down to July 24th.

* edited apparently The Health emergency has been extended, not Lock down.No idea if this means both of them.Apologies.

Smart move.

See how the partial lifting in Spain transpires first.Caution is the best approach when dealing with the unknown.

Self isolation seems to be wearing heavy on the Pentantic Brigade. Give it a rest.

Just seen a report in spain with people exercising
No social distancing whats so ever. People meeting there friends as if nothing has happened.
They will soon be back in lockdown hit by a second wave

Yes that's a fair point about the lungs - it would make sense when you think about it. Unfortunately making sense frequently seems to go out of the window where the football authorities are concerned. The lunatics have been running the asylum for quite a few years now.

I think we are edging towards it,still not taking into account that singing and shouting right next to each other does exactly what the virus wants

'Don't go to the pub on the way' to outdoor events

To Mr Jenrick - it was a few weeks ago people were told they were more likely to catch COVID-19 in a pub than at a mass gathering like a football match. Does that mean mass gatherings will resume before pubs can re-open?

It's the right time to consider how the UK should deal with the next stage of the pandemic, the communities secretary says, but on actually easing the lockdown "the very strong advice today is that that moment has not yet come".

He adds it's true it's more likely for someone to catch the disease indoors than outdoors and that "will be a factor we will take into consideration".

Dr Harries explains "it depends how you go to your outdoor environment and what you do" - if you go out with friends that you haven't seen since before the lockdown, sit in a pub, stay there for hours face-to-face "that's not a good thing to do".

"Don't go to the pub on the way," she sums up the advice as.
