Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Premier League players are already taking coronavirus tests, with around 40,000 testing kits - costing about £4M - to be bought by the League in a bid to get games resumed. One major club has started sending kits to their players’ homes to test themselves. [

Premier League officials are working on a seven-week football festival if the season resumes - including the completion of the FA Cup. However, matches must begin by June 19, or it will be impossible to be complete before UEFA’s cut-off date of August 2. [

No they are not different to anyone else. That's the point. There are discussions going on about everyone returning. The latest is that primary-age school children may return on June 1st.

I am not looking forward to watching football on TV in front of empty stadiums but I don't see why some football fans are offended by the thought. Disinterested maybe.

interesting post. I suppose football is like any other business that has to adapt. If it is deemed safe by the government to play behind closed doors then so we must.

believe me though, many many people are sick of the direction of travel for football. Fans secondary in every respect. This is that on steroids

the premier league bubble will one day burst and when it does we will look back in this moment as a turning point I suspect

Liverpool are getting the title anyway. See PSG.
I'd have happily had them win the title a month ago if it meant none of this virus shite, that's not an issue.

There's too many risks to play football at this moment in time. To anyone who isn't led by money, that's just common sense.

Unfortunate but you play the cards your dealt.

Project restart?

Get the fuck out of here.

They've soon come up with this logo, absolutely pathetic.

How about project save lives and forget about football.

Greedy selfish wankers.

I was watching Ronnie Matundo on Football Focus a couple of days ago. Training with Schalke. None contact at the moment. Obviously it can't stay that way. The situation is changing fast though. Two weeks ago Spain and Italy were in the middle of a crisis, now many are preparing for school, work etc.

That isn't what Spain and Italy are doing. Their coming out of lockdown is takeaways are allowed to open (in Italy) and children are allowed out of the house (in Spain). Their lockdowns were stricter than ours to begin with, so reporting that says theirs are being loosened amount to getting close to where we are now.

Germany, Spain, Italy leagues all have plans to return although I don't think anything has been signed off and agreed yet.

Just seen this on Man City xtra twitter feed.

The only competition I am interested in now is the Champions League.
