Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

What the fcuk is going on in the world?

In the middle of the FIRST wave of a pandemic virus which is infecting millions worldwide and killing thousands, professional football is soon to be ok-ed to "play on" in order for professional football clubs (not people) to survive.

I feel like crying. Has the human race really sunk this low?

Disaster Capitalism.

££££ over lives.

Boils my piss. I really don't give a fuck about football at the moment. My waking time is fighting my employers to do the right thing and protect its staff. I don't see why football should be any different.

People don't seem to be able to get their heads around the fact that £££/$$$ are just man-made constructs, they simply don't matter when facing a global natural disaster. If/When this all ends and most of us only have £1 to our names, the rich will still have £1000 so the capitalist status quo will remain, but they can't see it.

Meanwhile at a time when the human race should be working together, pooling their intellectual and physical resources, there are internet spies gathering information on other countries' research into their work towards a vaccine because they know that later in the game they'll be forced to pay for this vaccine, whilst we're all being told that "we're all in this together".

Sickened :(

PS - keep fighting your employers pal, they sound like they deserve it

Echoed my feelings perfectly.

Really enjoying City TV at the moment. Reminds me of what I love about football and Man City. Looking forward to football coming back but they should just scrap any notion of coming back to finish the 19/20 season. Plus, the players will have pretty much lost all their match fitness and, like De Bruyne said, there is too much risk of injury if they rush back.

Premier League footballers are scheduled to start being tested for coronavirus next Thursday with clubs told to expect their results in just 24 hours - faster than NHS and social care workers. [
@TeleFootball

Explain karen, why you are going to hate the players?

I tell you it is going to be the players who get the hate from the public

I am not going to hate the players ! The public and the media will when they get tested more often and quicker than the nhs workers,it is always the players who get the stick, like they did about taking pay cuts, even from some on here,,it is the club's that should get the stick but it is easier to put a city players picture on all the negatives things,it will happen over testing

Owners, managers, players, club doctors and supporters have all shown serious reservations regarding the re-start , but the media continue to push for a June return for the Premier league , and that is becasue it is in their interests , they are struggling for news , when they resort to trailing Kyle Walker all over Yorkshire because he wants to give a birthday present to his sister , then things are slow.
Hopefully the government with 600-700 deaths a day will show some common sense and ban sport for the duration , the Premier league , PFA, UEFA and the media have too much ££££ to lose , five substitues , neutral grounds , no VAR , behind closed doors , whatever it takes , and all this to protect the" integrity" of the game.

The players are employees. I am a public , I wouldn't hate them
In a month or so there will be 200000 tests a day.
And lots of people will be taking private tests.
Hate is strong.
