Listening to the Government Health Advisor on the news tonight he only said that within the next 2 weeks we could expect self isolation by people with even a mild respiratory problem and/or fever. Didn't mention the issue of sporting events. I reckon it's a moving target and it will depend on by how many the cases rise in the next few days. It may be that, at the very least, away fans won't be allowed to travel from Spain. I don't think we can judge it by the cancellation of the Real-Eibar game bearing in mind that the whole of Spain is subject to internal measures. Depends on whether it escalates there and all foreign travel is banned. I reckon though that it would suit both UEFA & RM to have it behind closed doors - they know they'll be in for a rough ride otherwise.
Well said Pep, equally and sadly Gary Neville has said much the same hence has to be given credit....with much reluctance.
Portuguese league with no spectators now. I have flights to Porto this weekend (had planned to skip Burnley) and was going to get 6 or 7 games in, all of which would be new grounds. Now none! Gutted.
Cant be many places outside of the UK which will still have football this weekend. That raises its own alarm bells.
It's just the UK and Germany holding out among the big footballing countries.
And if RM and Uefa want it behind closed doors, then as sure as we are Carabao Cup winners three times on the trot, it will be played behind closed doors. Are those Spanish canutes reimbursing tickets? Have Uefa informed the dregs of the Iberian peninsula that they must cough up every penny so far expended on travel, hotels, and tickets? Or will it be a rehash of the fiasco in Moscow? I fancy that Uefa will make an exception for those Madrileños who have ticket and travel. Played behind closed doors with 3000 Spaniards inside the ground, not counting City managerial and backroom staff! Another Uefa pantomime in the making! Wonder if 'behind closed doors includes the entire campus. City ought to have some big fuck off screens for those who want to turn up and 'buy summat from the shop'!!
Let's hope then they close places like the Trafford Centre, Bullring Centre, gyms, restaurants etc where people gather if they stop sporting events.I believe this could be the last full week for any attended matches this season, regardless of competitions.
Same for the tennis.
