Corruption in English football?

If there's corruption going on within the Premier League to ensure United, Arsenal, and Liverpool constantly win the title then whoever is overseeing this alleged corruption has been doing a pretty shit job for a while now considering Arsenal haven't won the title for almost 20 years and United and Liverpool have only won it once each in the last decade. They must have been slacking last season when that 50/50 handball against Rodri at Everton wasn't given, or when Arsenal weren't given that 50/50 penalty at the Emirates when Ederson (probably) fouled Odegaard. Easy decisions to give if the corruption is as blatant as some in this thread believe it to be. They're also doing a shit job if the corruption is of a benevolent nature to ensure that the Premier League product is still considered exciting by foreign markets because everyone who doesn't support City reckons English football is becoming more and more like France and Germany, or Spain, where the same team (or same 2/3 teams) wins the league every season, and that City's four titles in five seasons is the main driver behind this line of thought.

I think what you have described explains to some extent an expanded mandate and scope for efforts to “protect the product” recently. I think there is definitely an argument to be made that they have done a shite job and I imagine you aren’t the only one making it.

And I would still argue that most involved wouldn’t even see their part in the efforts as corrupt. Some may not even believe them to be dubious. For many, as football at this level is ultimately an entertainment product, the sort of intervention we bemoan as corruption is just “securing and enhancing the value of the brand”.

See my post above about how most corruption actually develops and continues (versus the Hollywood depiction).

Even Bernie Madoff when he first began what would ultimately become a ponzi scheme didn’t intend to defraud investors.

Corruption with fifa wasn’t just about awarding Qatar the World Cup. That’s when it went too far.

The corruption was they’d understood the power of a group i.e Warner could galvanise the most votes. The collusion was corrupt, no one cared when he made tv deals for Trinidad but that didn’t make it any less corrupt.

It’s not always about being the winners of the league but it could be improving PR, satisfying customers, keeping it competitive.

The LOTG should be applied & yet when Liverpool & City met they were told by the ref he wasn’t going to apply the LOTG, he’s going to allow the advantage. Now is that at the request of the Match commander, after feedback from the TV. It’s not too different from what happened in Italy.

It can sound innocent but you are manipulating & could be considered corrupt.

Don't think it's corruption to favour the red tops as such. I think they are manipulating results to keep intrest alive and the dollars rolling in.

I will tell you what is corrupt. A broadcasting organisation that also has a betting arm and yet everyone talks about ridding the sport of gambling sponsors? If Lampard for instance gets the sack at Neverton the first thing Sky will do is show the odds for the next manager.

Your point still stands from the past but Sky TV now has no interest in Skybet. Is is owned by Flutter Entertainment, which came about after the merger of Betfair and Paddy Power.

Bet 365 could offer odds on the next Stoke manager though. Although I believe they don’t actually do it to avoid unwanted publicity.

I stand corrected but it's still wrong.

LOL. You are absolutely barking up the conspiracy theory tree in that you (apparently) think that this mistake was due to corruption. Where every mistake against City is due to corruption - and every mistake in favor is due to... human error?

Mistakes happen - get over it.

We failed to garner all 3 points because we didn't play well - we lost a point (tie versus loss) due to referring error - which at the end of the season will likely balance out.
your last sentence is laughable .

It would certainly be a big story if Tottenham’s captain was accepting bribes to help Arsenal win the league. Is there any particular reason why you think that is likely?
Yeah he's a world cup winning goal keeper that regularly throws the ball in his own net. And it's not to help arsenal win the league it's 1 result
