Could we see a crazy final table at the end of the year?

I think the only change at the top will be Arsenal finishing in top 4. Predicted that before season started and they look good.

Based on yesterday, if Toon carry on like that I can see them top 6/7.

There is some utter gash in this division, the gap between the top sides is getting bigger by the year.

Too early to say but my feeling is it will be more like our 2020 title win. There will be a few surprises but it will most likely be scousers 2nd with Arsenal, Spurs amd Chelsea battling for the other CL places

Seems like the league is a lot stronger this year, could we see some crazy final positions in the table, with an unlikely winner or top 4?

World cup could throw a massive spanner in the works too.
In the last ten years, only 6 times has a team outside the rich six broken into the top 6. So, just 6 times out of 60.

And Leicester's title win is the ONLY time in ten years that any team outside the usual suspects made the top four.

We get the talk every season, but ultimately results even out, and the teams with most money rise to the top.

I'm hopeful Spurs and Arsenal can be our rivals this season, but I'd be astonished if anything particularly unusual happens.

I think City and Dippers will be in the top 4, and Spuds and Arsenal likely to join them. There could be some embarrassing final positions for some, Chelsea and Untidy among them. Leeds, Everton and Forest might surprise a few, I know Everton only have one point but if they get Calvert Lewin fit and keep Gordon, I think they will avoid a relegation scrap.

I think it will settle down to more predictable results by match day 6. Good to see Leeds hump Chelsea though I have to say. I can’t remember many forwards doing us like St Maximin yesterday. Hope he keeps that up vs our rivals.
St Maximin will need to lie down for two weeks after his efforts yesterday. There is no way he’ll get anywhere near that kind of performance again in this PL season - I haven’t seen bandaged knees like his since I packed in the over 35s Sunday league.

He’ll make Garth FatFooks team of the week though as will Pope despite letting 3 in.

In theory I suppose this season should favour squads with a limited amount of World Cup players. But without studying it in detail, I imagine all the clubs in with any sort of realistic chance of the title, will have the vast majority of their top players away. Haaland and Salah notable exceptions.

I can’t see it making too much difference to the status quo though. Surely anyone hoping to finish above City would not only be praying for an off season by City but still looking at mid 80s points, as a minimum? Not many sides capable of that, even with everything going for them for me.

First few weeks are always topsy turvy. It'll settle down by October. May see arsenal and spurs up there but I'd expect the Brightons and Leeds to drop a little.

I think it could be one of those years where you get a suprise package into Europe, maybe Brighton, Newcastle or Brentford, but a lot would to go their way in terms of staying injury free and yellows instead of reds ;)

Question back then, would you take not winning the league this year to see one of United or Liverpool relegated? As tempting as it is, personally I'd rather have the silverware even if it means United fans running round celebrating staying up on the last day. Although let's be honest, they'd all have given up on football by February if they looked odds on for the drop.
