Could you go a month without alchohol?

I can take it or leave it but you can be sure something will happen in that month to make me want a drink. Like today, my dog needs another tooth out, 111 quid today, 450 next week as he may need 2 out and he is a big lump so the cost of the shear amount of stuff he needs to knock him out, after care costs etc. This has drove me to a few bottles of aspalls of which the first was just opened.

Probably but would struggle I think and be bored.

If you took a month of and carried on training your park run time will tumble.

I do it from time to time. Probably about once a year. Usually make it to week three, although I have completed the whole month on several occasions.

The nature of my work, my circle of friends and my enjoyment of drinking make abstinence a significant challenge.

I’m guessing you’re on it now or i am and I’m seeing double...

I stay off it quite often, amazing how much better you feel by week 2/3 get much better sleep etc.

I probably could, if my health depended on it, other than that I don’t really envisage a reason to do so

That said, I tend to only drink at weekends and I will often miss a weekend out and go 2 weeks without a drink

I like wine and my 4 cans of San Miguel with a bag of crisps a little too much to do a month

I would give the dog the alcohol and pull it’s two teeth out yourself

As it happens, I've just done it. I've got a friend who gives up certain things for Lent every year. She's a practicing Catholic; I'm not. But I thought, sod it, if she can do it, I can. She challenged me, and I accepted the challenge.
Did me good, actually. I'm not a big drinker, and never have been, but for years now I've been in the habit of having a glass or two of something virtually every day.
Now I will admit something. Right in the middle of that was Wembley and the Carabao Cup Final. Last time I had been at Wembley was in 1981. Less said about that the better. Well, being at Wembley and seeing my beloved blue boys finally win, and win in style (was not there for 1969, 1976 and 2011, unfortunately; nor, and how jealous I am of people who were, 1999). On my way back to the place I was staying at that evening on the tube, I thought, "Nearly forty years on from that last time, to hell with it, I'm not not celebrating this". I stopped off at a good pub on the corner, and treated myself to nice big glass of merlot. So strictly speaking, I didn't go the whole month without a drop. But I'm sure that the God that doesn't exist smiled down benevolently at me and Understood. PIcked it up again the next day, and lasted till the end of Lent, no problem.
The difficult thing, of course, is socialising, and friends. They were pretty good about it, although secretly they thought I was nuts. Not so secretly in some cases, either.

I set myself a challenge back at the start of 2016 to go from Jan 1st through to the start of April to go with no alcohol or meat. I managed it and have to say I felt a whole lot better health wise at the end of it.
Then I went on holiday and it all went tits up, now i'm back to being a fat overweight slob
