Could You Live Without A Car?

One thing I've noticed since moving back to Fall. These handicapped chariots rode by 16 year olds wtf :D

I went 2 years without a car a few years ago.
I got a job as a manager of a childrens home just outside of Tampa, working 7 days on and 7 days off.
So got rid of the car as I wouldn't need it 26 weeks of the year.
I bought a bike from Walmart for $96 and for the next 2 years, no insurance, petrol, services and repairs (except one puncture).
I lived a 15 min ride to / from work and 10 mins from the supermarket. On my final day in work (and the kids in school) I'd ''borrow'' a work vehicle and do the weeks shopping / beers for when I was off work.

If I wanted to go to the beach it was 3 bus rides / 3 hours away but I was never in a rush and would take a good book.
But after 2 years, I was like.... I need wheels.... I had worked plenty of hours of extra days on my 7 days off and bought a Jeep and loved being at the beach within 45 mins and I never picked up the ladies riding my bike.... i'll leave it at that lol

I don't have a car. Everything's so convenient here. There are two metro stations within 5 minutes of my house. If the metro doesn't go there, I'll get a taxi. If I need to bring something big home from Ikea, there's an app where you can hire a man with a van within 10 minutes. And then occasionally I'll hire a car if I fancy going somewhere on holiday that doesn't have decent public transport. All of that is way cheaper than owning a car, and the few times I have rented a car to do something in the City, I've regretted it because I've spent way more time say in traffic than I would have done on the train.

Having said that, I don't have kids, and I imagine that could change things.

You bought the wrong bike then.
