Court case from derby

It's the two stewards who are on trial - the jury have to decide if they threw him down the stairs or not. It's not about whether the guy is a social pariah or not.

Exactly this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

We don't know anything about the complainant, he may be a smackhead OR he maybe a recovering addict who is trying to get off the smack OR he may have a legitimated reason for using extremely strong pain killers. We don't know do we so lets stop this assumption making hey.

Whilst I get the distinct impression these two have chucked him down the stairs, I would imagine that their defence brief will use his drug and alcohol intake to instill reasonable doubt.

Shame because I've been told that they are a pair of bullying pricks by someone I trust.

Had sympathy for his case to start with - now not so sure (apart from the brakes).
If he was a nitid fan we'd have a field day

Exactly!

I ain't judging him on his choice of lifestyle Dave.

But there will be quite a few straight laced people in the jury and as soon as they hear he was smoking drugs, drinking and had used a very strong painkiller they will certainly have some element of doubt.

The CCTV footage must pretty good though because it seems thats all the fella has plus his own testamony.

They've covered that by saying they "instinctively raised their arms".

As if.

About time something was done about the stewards at that shithole!! Everytime you go they try throwing their weight about doesn't surprise me in the slightest they are bouncers thats how they seem to behave when stewarding!!

You've made your mind up though havent you?

I'm swayed by the fact that CPS are prepared to put a case forward relying on the word of a man who is taking methodone, has admited he'd been drinking, was smoking dope, had already been thrown out and admits to attempting to bribe the stewards and - this is what makes think they'll get them - CCTV footage. It would have to be pretty much undeniable CCTV evidence for them to proceed with Sweeney in the dock.

I don't know Sweeneys reasons for taking drugs in the past - sometimes they're just wasters who have nothing else to do with their lives - other times it could have been brought on by a series of tragic or sad events that he couldn't handle any other way. Either way who or what he is doesn't matter here - it's what the stewards allegedly did that's on trial.

Lets hope the right decision is made either way.
