I think it also hits home when a loved one passes. Was listening this morning to the guy whose mum passed away after contracting it in hospital during a stay for a relatively routine op. Heartbreaking.

I was reading that people are dying alone because the relatives aren't allowed in,this is just too much to take in really

Relative in early 60s is on front desk at large NHS hospital - no mask supplied and told not to wear one if she could source one "so as not to frighten people". Don't they need to be frightened?

(She also reckons "it's rife" in the hospital but - without testing - how would they know?)

Whether it is being frightened of going to hospital or other factors (fewer road accidents, sports injuries) they are less busy at A&E than usual. Covid suspects go elsewhere.

I missed his number of cases,i do agree with Oxford though,this would have spread amongst the population for a while before we realised what was happening,i think 50% is a realistic number

That is a positive. A&E's are usually packed with people who have issues not related to either accidents or emergencies and they should be told by nurses there to fuck off home more often.

Another four Italian doctors have died with the coronavirus, bringing the toll in the epidemic up to 29, the national federation of doctors told ANSA, reports Lorenzo Tondo in Italy.

Over 5,000 Italian health workers have been infected with Covid-19 so far.

The Assomed union has called for immediate action ‘’to provide all workers with individual protection equipment’’.

Meanwhile, Civil protection department head and coronavirus commissioner Angelo Borrelli has cancelled his daily six o’clock press conference after suffering symptoms of fever. The result of a test is being awaited.

Authorities will still release new figures at 6 pm

I would imagine the stress and hours they are being asked to work might contribute to a lower than normal immune system.

PPE equipment can't be 100% safe I wouldn't have thought.

That is very good news. Last I read about them, there were concerns about their accuracy though, so I'm assuming they've got that sorted.

There aren't many such tests for any antibodies that are better than 99.5%. 98% would be brilliant. Its the false positives that are the big issue for antibody tests.

Good point.. I suspect exhaustion has come into the equation here as you have to be meticulous in scrubbing up and down.
