I would be nervous if i lived there, just sat waiting for it,they should have a corona party and get it over with

Dr Anthony Costello, formerly of the WHO just live on BBC News. Saying he has lost faith in the health and scientific advisors to the government. That we have had 7 weeks to prepare and get our testing up. That we are not protecting our front line, the health workers, and will lose 50% of them to quarantine. Saying we need to lock down London immediately with army on the streets as London is essentially going to be like Wuhan in a week. We face a “tsunami” of cases, particularly in a London, and we have barely any ventilators. Italy announcing nearly 500 deaths today an he says that is us in 10 days. He’s basically saying we’re fucked. Which is terrifying considering who’s saying it.

any financial bods on here?,,was wondering with the state of the economy and the risk of the pound becoming less valuable every day, if you say had 10k in cash would you be better buying a physical item such as a car to retain certain value
No your car depreciates in value the min you drive it away from the garage, unless you are thinking about a lamberginhi ?

This antibody test that's in the offing should be very helpful. It might even be possible for transfusions of blood plasma from recovered patients. That was done in Shanghai. It wouldn't stop people getting it like a vaccine would, but it might help in the treatment of very sick patients.

The figures are odd, every day some new celebrity comes out as being coronarised, the NHS however are not even testing people unless they have it bad, are these people buying kits from some shyster snake oil salesman or have they got access to opportunities we don't have?

That's fair enough, I've all the time in the world for the lad so if he spoke up he had fair grounds.
No issue with @Indaparkside expressing concerns, just had to challenge the assertion I had been belittling posters in the thread, as I do my best to be reasonable, respectful, and compassionate with everyone on the board. Though, I am human so I’ll obviously not *always* be successful, hence why I am happy to take your and his thoughts via PM, though, if either of you have concerns.

I may have made this point earlier with army. Check my posts.

Unfortunately, there is a likely reason many NHS staff are not currently being tested. And I want to be clear, I am not saying I condone this at all, as I do think this is problematic for both trust in the response and for long-term health outcomes.

If they test positive they must be isolated and potentially treated (depending on the severity) which will remove those health professionals from the pool managing treatment, further reducing capacity as case volume only increases (including those health professionals ‘switching sides’, which is a big swing). You can see how things might spiral once comprehensive testing begins. Some of this is already going on with health professionals that have been presumptively identified as infected via symptomatic assessment, but is likely a small proportion of those likely actually infected based on continuous exposure.

Of course, that also means many of those health professionals that are infected (but not showing symptoms sufficient for presumptive positive identification) may be contributing to the transmission of the virus to individuals in hospital that were not already infected with the novel coronavirus, including those with comprised immune systems and other high risk underlying conditions.

It’s a horrible situation for all involved with no easy solution.
That’s very good point

Shut schools and half the parents will treat it like the summer holidays and take their little darlings out every day.
I understand the decision but if people think many parents are going to stay in 24-7 with their kids for what might be months, they're mistaken
Depends if we arrest them or not.

This not a ****ing game. Peoples' lives are at stake FFS. Lots and lots of them.

No to be honest Seb I thought you were in the right, was just defending his right to challenge, ill leave it at that.
