They could have asked that once and then gone on to other issues. Many questions were asking the transport guy about things such as whether the police spoke to Cummings, whether Johnson knew and when he knew etc. Mainly all things he wouldn't have the answer to. They can spend all day slagging off Cummings on the news and in the papers if they wish.

I understand that point scoring against the government is of more interest to you but I (and am sure millions of others) would prefer to actually get some info about the virus during these briefings.
That last bit of your post is rubbish, those two have just said it is ok to do the opposite of what they have had us doing for three months,as they are saying what he did was right we need it clarified as to what us plebs can do,we have been told to be really strict and by and large the public have stuck to it at great personal cost

Journos ask lots of questions - not focussing on important stuff
Journos ask too few questions - pandering to the govt/avoiding questioning the government

Either lead to partisan grandstanding here!

‘he has friends in London who could have looked after his child’ you know this as a fact? Not sure if you have children but parents would not just hand their kids over to friends. I know I wouldn’t for a number of reasons.
He took the child in case him and his wife became ill, they could have stayed home in isolation having their food delivered in london,a family member who wasn't ill or isolating could have collected the child if they both became too ill,the child is the excuse to go where he went

You really believe that was the motivation behind the questions?

If we have stuck to it, then we already know what we can and should do, regardless of what one other individual does.

'There is a safeguarding clause in the advice' - Dr Jenny Harries

Is there, has anyone heard that in the last three months? Genuine question because I don't think I have heard that ,has it has been explained and repeated with the stay at home message

Again, how do you know a family member could have collected the child?

He will be gone in the next couple of days .
Schapps and Harris were hung out to dry answering questions about him and you can be assured off camera he/she will be making it known to Boris and the rest of the cabinet that his position is untenable and he must be sacrificed or every briefing will be derailed until such time as he resigns

Found the briefing rather informative myself. I can travel to relatives if I require support.
And if you have a camera you don't have to socially distance. I don't like the look of Cummings, he appears to be an arrogant **** but I would think all the ones outraged are either Labour MPs or the twats who flooded to the beaches this week

Only travel during lockdown if there is an 'extreme risk to life'

Dr Jenny Harries refused to comment when asked if Dominic Cummings's actions undermine the "stay at home" message.

She told the press conference: "In relation to the advice to the public, it's absolutely clear that public health guidance is, if you're symptomatic you stay at home, take yourself out of society as quickly as you can with your family and stay there, unless there is extreme risk to life.

"That is a really important message, people have been really good at doing that, but it's vital that we continue to do that going forward.

Daily briefing

Clarifying guidance about travel during lockdown, Dr Jenny Harries said it was "clear" someone with symptoms should self-isolate along with their family.

Dr Harries added that "built in" to all guidance to protect the vulnerable "there is always an element which says safeguarding".

She said: "So we don't want an elderly person sitting at home without their medication because they feel they can't come out."

Dr Harries said if there was a "safeguarding issue" where a child had "no support", that was also an issue.

"There's always a safeguarding clause in all of the advice," she said, adding: "The interpretation of that advice is probably for others.

Dr Harries said enough for us to know that Cummings broke the (then guidelines. It’s also clear that the Government licks and chooses which scientific advice it follows as it is entitled to do so.

A spokesman for The Singapore University of Technology said: "The model and data are inaccurate to the complex, evolving, and heterogeneous realities of different Predictions are uncertain by nature. Readers must take any predictions with caution.
"Over-optimism based on some predicted end dates is dangerous because it may loosen our disciplines and controls and cause the turnaround of the virus and infection, and must be avoided.

Read your own links for god's sake, everything you say is misleading

Karen you just extract anything that fits your narrative regardless of what it is. If their modelling said there is likely to be a huge 2nd wave you'd be on here quicker than a rat up drainpipe to tell everyone. Modelling by its very nature can be inaccurate as we have seen from those predicting millions of deaths.
