Oh do fuck off you neck beard. I saw your post before the edit accusing me of lacking empathy.
It’s nothing of the sort, my post was simply explaining for the hard of thinking that it’s impossible to compare daily death figures between different countries when the U.K. (for example) keeps adding in non-hospital deaths for a previous one to two week period to any figures released on the day they were determined.
The numbers are collated as such due to the fact that non-hospital deaths require two separate GP’s to see the body and sign the death certificate. It means that numbers aren’t available in real time.
As for “why the U.K. would be different to Italy”, the U.K. hasn’t taken a single ventilator away from a older patient to give it to a younger one (yet). Our health service has not yet reached capacity.
So you can keep posting about everything is bleak and blame the government if that’s your way of dealing with it. Other posters can however, realise it’s a shite situation and yet still come to rational view that no amount of finger pointing or asserting blame will make a difference.
If you’re wanting to win the badge for the most upset and most depressed by the situation then have at it.
Cheers for the insult. I edited it out immediately because I felt bad and thought it was harsh. I lost my temper briefly. And besides, asking someone if they lack empathy, and then quickly retracting it isn't exactly total bellend behaviour is it? I think it's pretty understandable that many people feel very fed up and may lose their tempers. Today I learned an auntie of mine is intensive care in Wales due to this, and an uncle of mine likely has coronavirus closer to home, who lives with my auntie with diabetes who is high risk. My parents are terrified. Add to that that my missus has been furloughed today with her job at risk. Yeah well, I'm pretty fucking fed up, and I can imagine a lot are going through very similar things.
And yes, I don't think our government's response has been perfect. So fucking what? I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that either. If people are allowed to vehemently defend the government's strategy, people are also allowed to disagree just as passionately. I agree finger pointing won't make a difference right now, but people have every fucking right to vent and yes things ARE fucking bleak. How can anyone possibly say that it isn't? There's levels of bleak, yes, but it's all still on the same shite scale. I think its quite a normal reaction to find Vallance say that our death totals will rise for two more weeks, despite the already very high numbers, as totally fucking crap. How can anyone be okay with that?
And the worry is that despite not being short of ventilators yet, we're still posting deaths at the same rate as Italy. STILL. That's not exactly encouraging is it? We're matching them at their worst, without being overstretched. Unless im missing something here, and this is a sincere question, what positives are there to take from that?
You can be rational about it all and still totally fed up with it. There's a pretty strong argument to suggest the rational thing to feel right now is hopelessly lost. I know people like yourself probably think people like me are fucking wimps or sumat, but so fucking what? It isn't a good time, and maybe you should be a bit more understanding that people struggle with awful shit like this, understandably!
