COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Woke up with a sore throat this morning and naturally, I’ve convinced myself I have the early symptoms of coronavirus. I’m not even joking, it’s what my mind does to me. Then I started focusing on what my breathing was doing and I find that when I think about breathing, my breathing goes all over the place. So that was my shortness of breath symptoms. I’m just saying my goodbyes now.
Will organise a minutes silence at next home game pal, what minute would you like?

15 Million infected and 9,000 deaths since the start of Autumn 2019 in the United States.

that’s the normal flu by the way, which no one gives a fuck about. It’s all about perspective.
Aye, throw in that China is full of ridiculously poor people living in terrible conditions with no access to real healthcare and it suggests this probably isn't the black plague that some people seem to be thinking it is.

Indeed. It has been mentioned and does need to still be considered, even apart from this outbreak.

Different virulence and much different mortality rate (based on current estimates, of course) for this new respiratory virus, though, so I do think attention is warranted, especially given various reports that it is worse in China specifically than being reported.

Are people really considering it the Black Plague there?

Indeed.

I caught that swine flu that was going around about a decade ago. I was in bed for about a week and, for a few days, even had to wear sunglasses during the day in bed because the light (even with curtains closed) was too bright.

203,000 people died from that swine flu outbreak.

But I didn’t die from it.

Always wondered why there were so many oinks in your posts. ;-)

Jokes aside, glad it didn’t impact you too much, mate!

I have some good news and bad news pal.

The bad news is you're going to die.

The good news is the guy in hospital, next bed to you wants to buy your slippers; )

The other perspective is at the current rate of growth we will be at over 16m infected in 18 days with 350k deaths.

not suggesting it won’t slow down but that is the current trajectory.

As someone else pointed out, if this hits the slums in India then it’s gonna be carnage for them. And odds are this stats won’t get calculated.
