Absolutely disgusting from the Daily Mail, I knew they were a joke - but didn't think they would sink to this level.

every so often UK newspapers jolt me. i had become quite numb to our press but this reminds me we have some of the worst, despicable media in the world.

Just as a matter of interest when do you all think Teachers should return to work?
- Never?
- When there's a vaccine?
- When the infection rate is much lower and track and trace is in force with full safety measures in place?
- A phased return in three weeks when track and trace is in force and some safety measures are in force?
- In a couple of weeks?
- Next week?
- Now?

(A third of primary school teachers have never stopped working because they look after the children of key workers.)

When its safer than it is now and proper measures have been put in place.

Do we know what the infection rate is in children? I saw 1 in 400 people are infected, but i presume that varies massively across age groups? If the infection rate was 1/10000 children had it, introduce testing for teachers then maybe would it be considered safe? Clearly social distancing is going to be nigh on impossible at schools so they need something else to convince staff and parents its safe.

When the infection rate is much lower, track and trace is in place, and other preventative measures are taken surrounding hygiene and practicalities.

Our media is legit criminal. I honestly feel like the gloves have come off with them and they’re just completely hammering it as hard as they can now.

They must have realised over the last few years that no matter how extreme they go, their target audience still continue to lap it up.

I don't see the point of any kids going back to school this academic year, those old enough to be sitting important exams will have laptops/phones capable of watching webinars recorded by their teachers from home.

Until we have something emerge from the science that proves much more widespread infection with levels of immunity, or something over-the-counter that will moderate symptoms so that the majority can treat it "like a flu", then I don't see how we can make much progress and it just seems a counter-intuitive risk and message given that we haven't really progressed from where we were a few weeks ago. We're still in the same boat.

This is a bit OTT,

https://www.france24.com/en/2020040...-duterte-warns-coronavirus-lockdown-violators

But I hope our police do not show any sympathy for any morons taking part. None. Charge them and arrest them on the spot. Heavy fines, criminal records please. None of this "understanding" policing bollocks.

This is not a fucking game. Tens, even hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake. No time for pussy footing about.
the trouble is the police are in a bad situation with the law, mass gatherings they should be legaly able to disperse them, social distancing is not law and they can do nothing if people decide not to distance,i agree 100% with your post

All our staff have been working every day since lockdown, some in school with key worker/vulnerable children, the others providing online learning. Every day.
The answer to your question, when it is safe: for them and the pupils and the pupils' families, all of whom would be impacted and harmed (or worse) by this folly to have the children return June 1st.
