Care home’s have been neglected which is an awful shame especially for PPE and testing kits. Some of the patients are really young in them accident victims and people already suffering from various injuries and illness
lots of lessons to be learnt from this pandemic hopefully all the crucial points will be implemented by whoever is in government.

Any country that has had it bad has had many deaths in care homes.

Shocking really that all these private care homes (84% in the UK) couldn't use some of the extortionate fees they charge to allow for some protection of their residents.

They were buying their own PPE which was enough for normal use,hospitals were sending patients with covid into homes,if the gov didn't see anything coming in care homes why would the owner of one do,they were left unprotected,lambs to the slaughterShocking really that all these private care homes (84% in the UK) couldn't use some of the extortionate fees they charge to allow for some protection of their residents.

I'm not sure on that but if it is the case there is no defence. Why didn't they use the nightingale hospitals that they built specifically for covid?

Because they don’t have the staff for them, you put 4000 patients into the excel centre you’ll need around the same amount of staff working shifts, where are they coming from?I'm not sure on that but if it is the case there is no defence. Next week is half term, start the holidays then give everyone off until the end of July and get school started if possible in August. No one is going on holiday this year anyway.I’m on the fence with the teachers’ situation, can see both sides, as my other half is also a teaching assistant. Fortunate or unfortunate, but the summer holidays are quite obviously the elephant in the room as I think there would be benefits for schools to have made a start in having children in before the break, otherwise if we leave it until September the whole conversation starts again whilst everybody is in “summer mode” when it’ll be far harder to agree on matters prior to the Sept restart.
Tough call.

I agree with closing schools until July and then working over the traditional Summer holidays.
However, I think you are wrong about holidays. Plenty will be going on holiday abroad this year. Probably well down on usual numbers but the option will be there.

The nightingale hospitals were kitted out as an intensive care unit really,truth is the gov said in feb they didn't expect infections in the care homes,sending them covid patients was a disgrace,just who thought that was a good idea,care homes are not set up to isolate patients,they only had a normal amount of ppe ,they are staffed by mainly min wage carers ,understaffed at the best of times they were given PPE a lot later than the nhs,they shutdown to visitors on their own before the gov thought about itI'm not sure on that but if it is the case there is no defence. Staff moved into the homes away from their families so the homes could be locked down,some sleeping in a tent in the garden,the care home sector staff have gone above and beyond to protect their residents
