I’m on the fence with the teachers’ situation, can see both sides, as my other half is also a teaching assistant. Fortunate or unfortunate, but the summer holidays are quite obviously the elephant in the room as I think there would be benefits for schools to have made a start in having children in before the break, otherwise if we leave it until September the whole conversation starts again whilst everybody is in “summer mode” when it’ll be far harder to agree on matters prior to the Sept restart.

Tough call.

Just seems odd that if you are a teacher with grandkids you can see them - one at a time - in a park at least 2m away from you then go into a classroom of 15 of other peoples kids milling around? Clarity of message? Is it about staying alert in the classroom so the bug won't sneak up on you?

If you want to pick holes you’ll always find them, it is a complete impossibility to not find contradictions somewhere as we come out of lockdown, bar having a black/white scenario of just saying it’s completely over so get on with life.

it is a tough call but only in the world of bluemoon can you Have a fairly reasonable view imo that says:

it would be good to try and get kids back to school in a safe way, so they can get an education.

for it to be

you Must hate teachers and want them and kids to die.

It was quite exciting, but not too much, to be in the “general forum” for an hour or so this aft with the start of the bundesliga, away from off topic. Almost made me wish for the start of the Prem, lol.

This thread has been a real eye opener over the last 8 weeks.

I think most people took issue to the Daily Mail and its article (which started the debate). It seemed far more inflammatory than that statement.

Brave words from the CMO today

"The issue about lunch boxes is they're quite personal to the child eating the lunch, and I can almost guarantee that one child won't want to eat the lunch of the one sitting hopefully two metres distance from them."
