Where do you get these stats from. Wouldn’t mind a look at these.

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Updated daily about 4 pm so you have to keep the score yourself day to day to track. All local health areas around England are accessible in an A to Z list.

The UTLA (Upper Tier areas) are the main ones. The LTLA (Lower tier) have some smaller locations as well included. So you see places like Barrow in there to see how high this is. Or some of the really low rural places.

All the regional case numbers are there too in the first list (regions), so you can track the new cases added daily to all these. As I do with NW and London in here.

As you know April 8 was the worst day for Covid deaths in English hospitals when almost 900 died.

This morning they announced that this was also the worst day for the UK in all settings (eg adding deaths at home and in care homes).

On that day 1445 people died.

Also that for 22 consecutive days (April 2 to 23) over 1000 people died of Covid in the UK in all settings.

So pretty much half the deaths we have had were in those 22 days.

Puts yesterdays 173, awful as it still was, into some perspective. Especially when you recall that only 2 of those 173 literally died in England hospitals yesterday.

As long as yesterday's 173 isn't a lie as well...

129 all settings deaths today. 71 in England hospitals. 16 from the North West.

It was 181 all settings last Saturday.

Tests carried out yesterday 230,550 - well up on past days.

New cases 1295.

Scotland data - 2 new deaths, 26 new cases, Total 519 confirmed Covid cases in hospital. 14 in ICU. 3967 discharged.

Looking more closely at the England hospital deaths there are some ongoing signs of a slight up trend.

First the good news. 6 deaths only yesterday. (It was 14 reported last Saturday from day before).

So that is now 4 single figure on day totals in a week and an average of 7 on day reported deaths over the week. Easily the lowest since the start. The averages for the previous 2 weeks were 12 and 18 respectively.

But 32 were added onto the 2 from Thursday. So that is now 34 after 2 days.

The 5 day total for 15 June is now 50. The 6 day total for 14 June is now 55. The three preceding days to that with extra days of add ons of course already added are all still below 50.

Not unduly concerned as figures do go up and down especially when we are talking modest numbers a handful of cases make a disproportionately big difference in appearance - but need to watch coming days.
