COVID-19 — Coronavirus

80 odd infections in Leicester from 13-26 June when in actual fact it was 944 (nine hundred and forty four).

Yesterday's figure of 680 odd country wide probably closer to 12,000. Pathetic.

I understood that that the positive test numbers were being published for England but local authorities were not being informed of the Pillar 2 results? There are more people with the virus than the official figures because there are people with Covid 19 who haven’t been tested.

If I've interpreted this wrong then I'll hold my hands up, I gathered that the daily figures which are being published aren't including the Pillar 2 results, and these extra 850 odd pillar 2 results from Leicester would be reflected throughout the other regions?

If that makes sense. If I'm interpreting that wrong then I apologise.

I am not certain. I have read on line that Pillar 2 are published on the UK Government website (possibly delayed). Local Authorities should have had routine access to all the information about positive tests in their areas anyway.

This is the way i see it, or at least i've tried;

Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 cases are reported here, at the national (England) level. 30th June was 689 positive cases reported;
https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/cases

Using this link;
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

689 reported for 30 June (for all dates) is 226 Pillar 1 and 463 Pillar 2, at the national level.

However, when using the regional/authority data portal;
https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

you can only ever see pillar 1 stuff. The downloadable file has 81 cases for Leicester between 13 and 26 June. 160,587 for England in total (not 312,000)

So. Where the loop cannot be closed is the claim that there was 944 cases of covid in Leicester between those dates. We know there are roughly double P1 + P2 cases than just P1, but i cant find a source that tells you where all cases are occurring by UTLA or LTLA.

That makes sense. Thanks @shemnel.

I wonder what Irans true numbers are.Never had more than 160 deaths a day but have consistently reported a 100 plus a day. Always find their figures strange.

Well when they were saying they only had a few deaths there was pictures of mass graves being dug so says a lot.

Scotland update 1 death. 8 new cases only. 785 in hospital (that is down on yesterday) and 17 in ICU (-2).

This time last week they reported 4 deaths, 9 new cases (first single figure number) 880 in hospital (95 more than now) and 23 in ICU (six more)

However, two contractors at RAF Lossiemouth and a footballer at Aberdeen are in the new cases.
