COVID-19 — Coronavirus

They have done it from day 1. Look at the latest that another pandemic from China is imminent, what a load of shit. Fair enough they want to scare people into following the rules, pretty much the same as what they tried with the war on drugs, but when people realise they are being lied to they do the opposite which ends up worse in the long run. Governing by fear doesn't work.

It's been obvious for weeks the virus is in decline and was not as bad as they initially predicted. Still needs to be monitored do it doesn't blow up again but life needs to get back on track, which thankfully it is doing slowly.
You seem to have misunderstood my post, but a couple of things, you can crack on with "back on track", that is exactly how it will blow up again.

Meanwhile I and many others will carry on with our "new" normal, and continue to avoid places where it could be an issue, even if the current infection rate is pretty small. If we'd been doing this as a nation in early March, many thousands wouldn't have died.

Secondly the media aren't there to "govern", they are there to "report", and it's what they should stick to doing, but they don't, they spin everything to the opposite of reality, it almost feels like they are trying to turn everyone to a more extreme thinking, and its not doing our country much good.

Me too, but I'm struggling to understand why and how, especially given some of the things the media are keen to portray to us, perhaps the media want to portray things in a bad light, so jump on any event where social distancing breaks down and hype it up, I've seen parties going on, and crowds bigger than they should be, but even our local street drinkers whilst still there seem to be distancing.

My experience out, is that there still aren't many, and those that are, are pretty much doing what they were 5 weeks ago. People seem to have completely adjusted their grocery shopping habits to one weekly shop again, I continue to avoid Tesco after 2 bad experiences in different stores.

I changed to Waitrose at the start, and have only used Morrison's otherwise, mainly because I can have amazon delivered there, and my missus has her prescriptions sent there. Visited Waitrose this afternoon about 1:30pm, there were more staff than customers when I arrived, but a small queue when I left, took a face covering but didn't feel it was necessary to wear it.

I'm now using their handheld device to shop, it saves time, and you can pack your bags on the way round, and put them straight in the car, and despite them being a more expensive store, we're spending less than we were in February somehow.

Our butcher has moved online only, but its still fabulous quality most of the time, and we get a delivery every couple of weeks, though we are missing talking to the guys in there.

Good stuff mate. I’m using a combination of Aldi and Waitrose.

There are reasons for optimism mate but they don’t always get a mention in the national news. As I just heard on luck North West this is the first time in history that virtual all scientists are working on solving one problem. They are being helped many thousands of volunteers who are testing drugs and vaccines (1,000 health workers in Liverpool alone testing one vaccine and more in Oxford and around the world etc).

In the main our society has been fairly united against the virus (with obvious exceptions) whether it be front line workers, volunteers helping local communities and most people social distancing and thoroughly washing their hands etc.

Costly Mistakes were made by the Government and SAGE but at least the financial support package has helped most people. Every life lost has been very sad but we have to do the best with the situation we find ourselves. That said, if I ever came across Cummings I would probably give him a slap.

The press being critical is fair enough. The UK has not had a good pandemic. Numbers wise we were in early March 2 weeks behind Italy and 1 week behind Spain. But neither of these countries have had the UK's current numbers since the middle of May.

155 all settings deaths. 689 new cases.

That is down from 171 last Tuesday.

Only 653 last week been lower. But that was from 100K more tests than today!

From 133, 467 tests today. So well up on yesterday but low by other recent dates.
2/3 now in social care settings. What is going on in care settings in England?

As am I.
I'm amazed to be honest with the BLM protests and the youth totally ignoring social distancing of any form.

When they head off to Uni they will be straight on the phone to the coppers if their ipads get robbed. Defunding the police only gets one so far.

The Yanks buying up the entire world stock of Remdesivir, thanks lads. Wonder if this is a sign of things to come when a vaccine turns up?
The US government may indeed try to do that.
But at least 25% of the US population won't accept a vaccine as many consider it to be on a par with being marked by the devil prior to the Apocalypse.
