flatten the curve don’t let the nhs be overwhelmed and it wasn’t and isn’t

what’s the strategy now seems to be to stop anyone dying of it when people die of all kinds of shit

the govt needs to be clear what we are trying to achieve
We have to contain the spread through being sensible and testing before we go into the winter and a second wave,i get you are impatient but this is a brand new virus that loves winter and we haven't gone through the winter with it yet,do you really want to chance it that it will not peak in the winter like all other respiratory viruses? What if it kills someone in your family, change your mind then? The nh s gets overwhelmed with The usual winter illnesses, add covid and it will be a diaster

Come on mate i know you are going through shit but preventative measures are taken on all those things you listed just like they are now with covid. The 2018 flu link you posted is flawed as well because those deaths were without any social distancing and lockdown measures and is also from late February so is at the end almost of flu season. Covid in the UK has so far been a spring/summer disease. Covid deaths in flu season with no measures would be at least 250.000 according to estimates and you know this.

measures are fine

shielding then elderly and vulnerable tick

social distancing tick

washing hands regularly tick

closing down Society and the economy and destroying livelihoods no

Fine but it’s not winter now is it .

put those measure in in the winter if needed

Nail on the head, I take my own decisions as to what I do, love the Pub but will not be going in one until a vaccine is available. I wear a face mask when I go out and only go out when I need to. It's not difficult or confusing it's common sense.
Agreed. It's very frustrating for instance of your walking into a shop with a face mask on along with a number of people, Then you get more with no masks on! It's not very difficult to put a face mask on when necessary.
Myself and wife went out for a meal (It's a restaurant/pub ) last Sunday sat down at 6pm all started off well all of a sudden around 7:30pm people coming in and the owner giving people receipts saying (Hold onto that if anybody asks your waiting on food).
We had to leave the place was packed! Common fucking sense people.

no the point is whether the response is proportionate

people die of cigarettes want to ban smoking ?

people die In traffic accidents want to ban cars ?

people die of alcohol want to ban alcohol ?

people die on bikes want to ban bikes ?

Do you honestly think our hospitals could cope if we didn’t have a lockdown and social distancing measures ?

Way too late,we have to get some control of it now, there is a big lag in data such as the R number and deaths ,you can't wait till you are in the eye of the storm to baton down the hatches, the nhs has plans in place for every winter, this had the potential to be ten times worse with covid as well

social distancing and washing yes lockdown no

could have had a focussed lockdown on elderly and vulnerable rather than all society but to be fair we didn’t know then how this disease really affected people and thought it was wipeout

we do now Know that those who die of this or are really ill are old or have serious underlying conditions

also treatments are better now as we have learnt lessons . It was induced coma and ventilater now it’s oxygen and drugs

surely if we are locking down again as a response now 6 months on the medics have learnt nothing about treating this disease

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the decision was taken to help agencies respond "as effectively as possible", including with extra resources.
People "should not be alarmed" by the news as it was "standard practice", Manchester City Council said.

"This move was simply to enable public agencies to access any additional resources they need as quickly and efficiently as possible," a GMCA spokesperson said, this is no more than a boost to our capabilities... and maximise our resources in the drive to reverse the spike in infection which we have witnessed in the last seven to 10 days

The Department of Health and Social Care is yet to comment.
