COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Still a very cuntish thing to say especially from a national newspaper editorial.
Forgive my post then because frankly at a time when prostate cancer was being advertised as the 2nd biggest male killer I had a high psa blood test flagged by Manchester Royal so saw my Yorkshire Trust who simply used a much higher threshold and ridiculed my concern.
Moving to Spain a few months later resulted in the same psa reading needing an immediate biopsy and follow up successful treatment for prostate cancer.
I remain to be convinced that bean counting decisions regarding diagnosis decisions are not made by tightly budgeted NHS Trusts.

Some rational comment. People have become utter drama queens, this is something fueled by misinformation and the need for the media to boost revenues. All of the 21 individuals who's death has been attributed to this flu virus, had major pre existing respiratory issues and was over 60.
I wonder if people have bothered to compare this 21, with NHS figures of 17, 300 deaths annually attributed to flu and do any of the hysterical drama queens on here actually give a toss about those people!
Do you think the WHO are this concerned over a bit of flu? I can’t stress this enough, NOBODY IN THE WORLD HAS ANY IMMUNITY TO THIS. If it’s allowed to spread, tens of millions die globally. In the space of literally months. Hence the strong measures being taken everywhere, except the UK. You are one of the people that’s adopting “I’m alright jack” as your stance, since you are clearly not high risk yourself. That doesn’t mean we do nothing, just because VOOMER is going to be ok.

Stop trolling.

On the off-chance you’ve got a valid point to make, why don’t you try to stay civil?

Shouldnt we have a thread title something like " how can I/we help others" through this situation

I know its a fast moving situation but there must be some people on the forum who are maybe in

local government/charities/vulnerable group organisations etc who are maybe accessible to more

detailed info on opportunities for people to offer support, practical help, volunteer etc. I know many

people will be hard pressed to help their own families but if there was maybe a local or regional plan

that was simple to access, people could offer to assist whenever they could. Obviously people can

unilaterally do their own thing but in this situation we could easily do more harm than good, particularly

with inadvertently passing the virus on. I suppose im relatively lucky in that i dont have elderly parents

or any children so have more time. I do care for my partner who has many issues but not those you

would directly associate with underlying conditions with regard to covid. If there already is such a

resource, maybe we could post link as a sticky at top of the thread. Im sure there are many health

and safety issues that are restrictive normally to volunteering etc but at least if the people who know

what people can do locally, can make that easily visible, then at least its a start. From volunteering to

helping companies trying to build ventilators or helping with deliveries to over 70's, i dont know whats

available or safe to do? Its only a short time ago that we were thinking the arsenal games been called

off and that was a big issue, now we are cancelling all operations except to A&E and cancer patients,

supposedly quaranting the over 70s for months & desperate for more icu beds and ventilators............

It might be a minefield and maybe those that could do this should be prioritising their time elsewhere

but just asking the question

just been to do our weekly shop in a big tesco

NO…..tea bags, dry pasta, loo rolls, tinned food, soup, eggs, fresh meat, long life milk, cleaning clothes, bleach, hand soap,

and signs on the tills saying dont abuse the staff

I have never seen anything like this before.

And those on here who defend them no matter what should also realise that this government's completely disgraceful response to this is going to cause people to die. Those screaming that we shouldn't be bringing politics into this need to realise it is politics that has left us with an NHS that does not have the capacity to deal with this crisis.
Along comes another points scorer. This government was elected on a landslide. Get used to it.

“Off-chance”. Please. What do you disagree with then? Go on.

It’s difficult to be civil when you have tried that already, and have family members at severe risk to the ridiculous behaviour from the 25% of our nation that are refusing to change. If it helps get the point through to him, it’s job done.

So you think the entire world has got in a flap over a bit of seasonal flu do you? Thank God our PM isn’t arsed about it either and is having the weekend off from talking to the public.

There is a point there though. He states that nobody seems too concerned about the flu (despite it killing thousands every year) and everybody has replied with dismissive comments about 'a bit of flu' which kind of makes his point.

Why miss an opportunity to score cheap points?

nothing to do with scoring points, everything about proving the point directly in line with the part I was quoting.

our government ( and others), be it under policy guided advice or not. Is directly contradicting the advice of the WHO. Who are trying to save millions of lives around the world.

we have learned nothing from China and Italy. In 10/14 days time out doctors will be triaging who lives and dies.

If we ( everyone ) had been more aggressive like the WHO advises we could have contained it. If that failed then if we ( the UK ) pushed it back to summer when seasonal flu is over freeing up more beds to help keep people alive.

Right now our actions are to do pretty much nothing.

Just sums up society in general, bunch of selfish cunts. I really feel sorry for the elderly stuck at home alone with the TV on and being scared shirtless and unable to get any provisions

But it doesn’t get the point through. And nor does it buy you an answer.

You were on about austerity, not WHO advice.
