COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Ye because most people may have had it! How long do we go on doing this, there may never be a vaccine, no chance we go into lockdown again it will destroy lives more than the actual virus. A lad at work who’s wife is a nurse in a home had an old woman who died, she died in her sleep, recorded as Covid because she had slight symptoms of it, because they have to put cause of death as something, so not heart failure they used Covid, utter bollocks, I do t question people are dying of the virus but no more than they are dying of flu, time to get back to normal.

Do you recall not that long ago 500-700 a people a day were dying from this ? we were building other hospitals - we have to be so so careful of not going back to this disastrous scenario, the only way is to ease lockdown very very carefully - which we are doing , anyone saying 'it's all bollox, let's just get back to normal' is a right plum in my opinion.

GM Scoreboard is not great news either - second highest daily total yet at 192 - it was 179 this day last week.

Some of the burroughs may want out. Others need to be concerned at their inability to get this under control. As tougher measures will inevitably have to follow if not. And given some of the posts on here today that may not go down well.

So 192 out of the NW total of 368. - which is as a percentage much the same as yesterday. So at least that is not getting worse.

Yep and the lockdown worked in stopping that, the only reason we went into lockdown was to help the nhs cope, if we had the capacity we would’ve stayed open and carried on, now we have, get on with life, will we see a spike in winter, of course because every flu death will be recorded as Covid, I'll ask again at what point can the majority of us return to normality, 1,2 3 years down the line because of 1 death a week? What if there is no vaccine, what happens if it mutates like flu does?

we're slowly opening up though, we are getting back to normal but if its rushed then deaths will once again go through the roof

but we are only where we are because of lock down. remove all barriers we go straight back to where we were. its that simple.

And the whole conspiracy idea that all deaths are just getting registered as Covid just doesn't add up, all you need to do is look at excess deaths to show that.

all you need to do is look around the world to see.

Lets twist the question you ask "'ll ask again at what point can the majority of us return to normality," back to you. "How do you think we can get back to normal without killing 10's of thousands of people".

GM scoreboard

Bolton 42 - up from 26 to its second worst total yet. So anyone doubting the (um - his words not mine) 'swift and decisive' action on reversing the easing of lockdown spoken of by the health secretary yesterday may need to reconsider. 442 in month. 248 past week (one of the highest ever weekly totals by any GM burrough - even beating the much larger Manchester). 68 over 2 days (was 58) - this time last week Bolton's 2 day total for comparison was 18. Pop score rise by a massive 14 in the day to 868. This time last week it was 778 - and seven days before that 762 - to show the huge jump in cases in this town that was swift and decisively obvious long before yesterday.

Bury 12 - up from 5. 233 in month. 62 past week. 17 over 2 days (was 11). Pop score 848. Two weeks ago it was 20 points worse than Bolton on this measure and today it is 20 points better! Shows how the pop score puts the raw cases per day numbers into a wider context to tell you HOW badly or well any place is doing.

Manchester 42 - up from 31 starting to rise again. 979 in month. 245 past week. 73 over 2 days (was 57). Pop score 790. 800 club looms.

Oldham 30 - up from 23 back to poor levels again. 729 in month. 160 past week. 53 over 2 days (was 39). Pop score 1252 - second biggest daily jump recently.

Rochdale 16 - down from 18. 378 in month. 101 past week. 34 over 2 days (was 27). Pop score 1032.

Salford 15 - up from 13. 339 in month, 100 past week, 28 over 2 days (was 15). Pop score 713. Big jump here too.

Stockport 4 - down from 10 - best in GM again and back to low numbers. 203 in month. (May go below 200 tomorrow for first time in weeks as only Wigan has managed over Summer). 37 past week (still best in GM). 14 over 2 days (was 17). Pop score 683 - increased lead on all chasers. Oldham is not far off double the pop score of Stockport.

Tameside 15 - up from 10. 306 in month. 101 past week. 25 over 2 days (was 16). Pop score 875.

Trafford 8 - down from 9 - keeping single figure run that might see it get release from lockdown next week as it is much improved since its rise last weekend. 251 in month. 85 past week. 17 over 2 days (was 15). Pop score 727.

Wigan 8 - up from 4. Still doing OK. 148 in month (lowest in GM). 44 past week. (second behind Stockport on this measure suggesting right 2 towns exited the measures). 12 over 2 days (was 10). Pop score 714. Will become second on this measure to Stockport as almost certain to overtake Salford tomorrow. Recall that with a pop score the LOWER the better.

I don’t think tens of thousands will die, the lockdown allowed the virus to be incubated in people and die out naturally, sure there will be cases but like flu it will be a constant, do we close down forever if there is no cure, going of the slow lifting how long do we go in for? Come November when the furlough is lifted and we end up with millions been unemployed because firms will just fold I reckon suicides will far out way Covid deaths. All these local lockdowns etc arent even doing what they are supposed to because no one is enforcing anything. Look at the countries we can’t travel back from because their rates going up, why are they up because of testing, yet how many are going to and from Turkey, I find it hard to believe they don’t have a high rate, yet because they probably aren’t testing properly they aren’t in the quarantine list, yet I know where I’d feel safer going to.

Hospital patient data shows another rise sadly.

N Ireland Patients fell from 20 to 18 AND Vent beds 3 (same)

Wales Patients fell from 43 to 42 AND Vent beds 14 (same).

Scotland Patients rose from 258 to 259 AND Vent beds fell from 5 to 4

England Patients rose from 425 to 442 AND vent beds fell from 59 to 58.

So there are 761 patients in UK hospitals today with Covid v 746 yesterday.

And 79 on ventilator beds v 81 yesterday.

This time a week ago there were on ventilator beds

N Ireland 1+ Wales 6 + Scotland 2 + England 62 (Total 71) .

And in hospital 22 N Ireland + 41 Wales _ 257 Scotland + 449 England (Total 769)

So 8 fewer patients are in hospital today than a week ago. But 10 more in ventilator beds.
