That was a projection based on current inflation rates and is perfectly fine as a projection. BBC reporting the facts as given

Straight from the govt too.

The plan is clearly to indicate the potential rise at the current rate if nothing changes, and then to point out that deaths/hospitalisations will rise too - but not putting a figure on those last two.

Best way to do this is to keep it simple, without sidetrack notes.

I've visited most European countries down the years, perhaps we also need to drill down into the psyche of a nation, rather than just pure numbers?

I have yet to visit anywhere that resembles a UK town or city centre on any regular Friday or Saturday night?

We might be close to Europe from a geographical point of view but a very large section of our society behaves as if they are the only people that constantly matter.

I’ve been to New Zealand mate and it very welcoming to international tourists. That’s probably changed due to Covid. FWIW, I have been on the ferry between the two islands and most international travel is by plane. Every country is unique and stating the obvious, we are an island nation ourselves but have suffered badly from the virus.

The point I’ve made over the last couple of days is that people who highlight Sweden vs the UK aren’t willing to give credit to New Zealand for their response to the pandemic. I don’t know why but it’s a bit surprising to me.

Hopefully, all Countries will see this through with the minimum of harm.
NZ have done brilliantly but the point i was making is it is unique in being far less connected than any other country in the world. It has no international ferries we are an island nation true but we had over 20million international ferry passengers last year alone. throw in tens if not hundreds more international flights and the channel tunnel and you can see how much more connected the UK is.

So Scotland cases up in week from 70 to 255 and % from 2.7% to 6.3%

And Wales from 183 to 234 and % from 1.9 to 2.7.

The second measure in particular is either good news or bad news. You might argue that by rising it means cases are soaring. Or that we are uncovering a wider number of the cases that exist by better targetted testing.

Probably a little of both.

Didn't he say earlier is doubling every week? Or is Wales not progressing as quick?

Test data is always a bit of a lag as it takes a day or two for some of it to come back. And it varies day to day everywhere. Look at the GM numbers I post here. We are in a huge pandemic but day to day they go up and down.

Its trends over the week not literal day to day that matter.
