With the Italian numbers increasing at this rate it will be full lockdown in Europe soon.
We are just too far away from the Easter break to try to ride this out until end of next week before making drastic decisions.

Best get out tonight and buy a few more cases of wine, going to be a long few weeks watching box sets.

I don’t think we will make it beyond the weekend before serious decisions are made about schools, universities, sporting events etc

Perhaps the guy at the WHO should be more specific, and if as you have to suspect he is refering to the UK, he should perhaps say so and call our government out. Maybe shame them into taking action.

All this does have to call into question the governments trusted scientific advisors. It seems to me that what they are saying is almost polar opposite to the opinions of the WHO.

Who are we to believe, let me think about that for 2 seconds.

All chinese restaurants and supermarkets getting closed here in Orihuela Costa.

Happy Birthday to me, happy birthday to me....

Listening is one thing but apart from washing your hands and if feeling unwell stay in, what are you supposed to do.
That’s exactly what people should be doing yeah. But plenty on here and Facebook that I’ve seen and in conversations have ignored all that advice as it’s just a bit of flu. That then increased the likelihood of contagion.

The WHO have been banging the same drum for around six weeks and if people (and governments) had actually listened earlier then the spread wouldn’t have been quite as widespread as it is now.

What an opening statement:

WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the number of cases outside China had increased 13-fold over the past two weeks.

He said he was "deeply concerned" by "alarming levels of inaction" over the virus.

And as far as I can tell, no major European nation is taking less action than us.

the irony is, on the index of “best equipped to handle a pandemic” by the WHO we are second. USA were top!

I might get round to the 1300 unread emails...

Nearly 200 people in Italy have died in 24 hours as cases of coronavirus in the country continue to rise.

There have been 827 deaths in Italy and the number of cases increased by more than 2,000, from 10,149 to 12,462, official figures showed.

In the worst-hit area, the northern region of Lombardy, there have been 617 fatalities, an increase of 149 in the last 24 hours.

The number of cases in the region - which includes Italy's financial capital Milan and has seen the majority of cases of the virus - has also risen by 1,489 in the last 24 hours, Reuters reported.

Figures for the number of deaths across the country are due to be released later. That stood at 631 on Tuesday.
