Yeh just heard that. It’s been decided though that kids will get their predicted grades in gcse and A levels if they are cancelled so I suppose it’ll be the same for sats. I only work in key stage 4 so not 100% certain of that

I was actually talking to the Mrs about that very thing last night mate, My young un is in KS6 & her Sats are middle of May. But obviously if children miss quiet a bit of school in the run up to exams it would put them on the back foot. Have to wait and see I guess.

Clearly something went very wrong in Lombardy, they account for the majority of the deaths In the past 24 hours.

I suppose the hope is that they are an anomaly on that side of the scale.

HIV can get into your body via your big toe but does it stay there, the capability of this virus is unknown, so are you saying unless it gets into your respiratory system its harmless because thats complete bollox,,were being advised not to touch our faces without washing hands and that includes the eyes which has nothing to do with respiratory
Hold your nose and blow hard. Then, tell me again.

In fact, read everything you wrote above, go away, do some reading, then tell us all what you find out!

I’m telling you what SCIENTISTS are saying. The thing is, if you have a cut on your leg, and you are in close contact with someone contagious, do you think you are getting COVID-19 through your leg???

Why do some people have the virus, but not die? Why does it make some people’s lungs like Swiss cheese and others not?

Tell you what, go argue with someone else. Have neither the time nor inclination.

If in the fullness of time it turns out that our government put £££ before lives the politicians will be finished. They thought that people were hacked of with Brexit and too many elections, my god if they are responsible for thousands of deaths not a single one of them regardless of party should ever be allowed to hold office again.

Italy was a disaster. The lockdown in Lombardy was somehow leaked before it happened, meaning that shitloads of people got out before it happened, spreading it to the entire country. That's why the country lockdown happened so suddenly.

That’s a good point about the eyes
Is it a good point?? Is it REALLY?

Or, maybe just a straight sentence will help you...

From The American Optometric Association:

“Viral conjunctivitis can also occur as the virus spreads along the body's own mucous membranes, which connect the lungs, throat, nose, tear ducts and conjunctiva. Since the tears drain into the nasal passageway, forceful nose blowing can cause a virus to move from your respiratory system to your eyes.”

Give your head a wobble...

They're often more interested in being seen to do the right thing than actually doing the right thing. And to be fair, whatever they do, they'll be attacked by an opposition (and parts of the media) determined that in either case, they'll be seen as incompetent. Do nothing and people die and you don't care about people's lives. Put everything into it and nobody dies, so surely it wasn't that dangerous after all and most of that money was wasted?

My prediction is that if this threatens to fuck over Trump's reelection campaign, he'll go on the attack against China, blaming them for the virus.

Isn't it generally the case that the lower the mortality rate, the higher the total number of deaths though? As long as most people with the virus can go about their normal business, they'll be more likely to spread it to the vulnerable.

Not quite, but I get where you are coming from.

To be really effective at reproducing, a virus must not be so deadly as to kill people straight off, or they never get to spread it around too much. On the other hand if it doesn't make people ill with coughing and spluttering then it doesn't get transmitted much either.

Most viruses fail to decimate the population because they fall on one side or the other. Ebola, for example, kills 80% of the people who get it. But Ebola victims don't get to pass it on that much because they are too busy lying on their backs dying.

COVID-19 is the most dangerous flu-like virus we've seen for 100 years and maybe longer, because it combines being pretty deadly - circa 10x worse than flu - AND at the same time is highly infectious. That is why it is such a threat and has the potential to kill millions unless we get it under control.

What should be the personal plan though?

I mean this genuinely.

I’d class myself as pretty fit and healthy, go to the gym, run and play football, exercise pretty much 7 days a week.

I can work from home so that’s ok.

So, take for example this evening. I’m due to play football at 7 for an hour. Am i now not supposed to go?

If I want to go to the gym tomorrow and do spin, should I not go there now?

If City is still on against Burnley and Madrid, should I not go?

If I fancy a couple of pints tonight in my local to hopefully see the scousers get beat, should I not go?
