That might be theoretically true, but there will be many of the deceased who may well have perished anyway.
Just as an example, over 12000 Italians die every week. 10200 die every week, in the UK. What nobody knows is how many of the people who died in the first week of March, and had the virus, would have died in the 1st week in March anyway. Given the multiple health problems that are associated with some of the deceased you would imagine quite a few.

I assume you could do the maths on that. Look at a previous infectious disease and you should see a situation where the number of deaths is below average following an epidemic, because the epidemic killed people who were already on their last legs, just a bit sooner than normal. I don't know if that study has been done.

I think all of the figures for the uk are wrong. They are barely testing anyone - pretty much only people who have been to places like China or Italy.

We are in an age where information can be put out there instantly yet all we gave had from our government is "Wash your hands" as other countries go into lockdown, the virus is declared a pandemic and confirmed cases rocket. It is an utter disgrace.

They should be wheeling out test centres in every borough, town and city or getting them to peoples doors and it has to be mandatory to do one. They can do it with a census form and can deliver a huge booklet pre the brexit vote but not for the biggest threat to life for decades.

At this moment in time I haven't got a clue if I can have a test and if I can where to go to get it done. I hear people ring 111 or their doctors and are told to self isolate if they have symptoms and seek further help if they deteriorate. Yet we are in the cold/flu season so most people think this is what they have and so contact no one. Most carry on shopping, going to work, socialising etcetera. As for self isolate how does that work for vulnerable single people with no family? Food delivered? Fine if you can afford the minimum £40 order, if not you are fucked.

All this probably suits self serving capitalist governments. Let the virus kill off millions of already vulnerable and old people, you know the ones that don't contribute to big businesses profits, don't give you a vote and are probably already a strain on the health service. Call me cynical but I wouldn't put anything past the bastards.

Absolute scum who have lied through their back teeth from the outset about the severity of this virus. The figures in Italy, Iran and Spain tell you all you need to know.

China have fudged the figures badly, in order to save face. They've let their own people down, amongst everybody else. A dictatorship country, where no doubt thousands more have passed away in less wealthy areas, which has been totally glossed over. They do not deserve any credit for how they have handled this situation, I for one am not believing what I see in the media, with Xi Jinping visiting Wuhan making out things are getting better. They've lied and most likely will continue lying.
