400,000 people a day will get vaccine at the start of January. 800,000 people a day will by the end of January (so delivering 400,000 immune people a day).
Everybody over the age of 18 will be done in 5 months according to my IT bud who works for PHE.
That's the plan.
Fuck me I hope so. That would have the over 50’s and key workers all done by spring. If someone said to me this will be looking really positive by March / April time id rip their hand of for it. Completely understand anyone’s doubting projected numbers based on previous statements throughout this whole thing though, we don’t really have a track record for delivering on targets.

on a seperate more adult note my mum who i have been estranged from for several years has been in touch and wants to have a meet up on boxing day. against the rules and i have had to say no tonight. she has barely seen anyone for months and it was tough. she is howver a type 2 daibetic. to make matters worse she is one of those that thinks the vaccine is a bill gates microchip!!

impossible to manage.

Ok, got a Christmas zoom with the family anti-vaxxer this week and I quite liked this passage from New scientist. However, can someone really dumb this stuff down? To primary level? And what else does the vaccine contain? Mercury is her usual go to.

"The active ingredient is messenger RNA that carries instructions for making the virus’s spike protein, which it uses to gain entry to cells. The mRNA is synthetic, not extracted from actual viruses. It is delivered in a tiny sphere of inert fatty material called a lipid nanoparticle.

The RNA-bearing nanoparticles are suspended in saline solution and injected into muscle tissue in the upper arm. The mRNA is then taken up by specialist immune cells, which follow its instructions to make the spike protein, just as they would do if they had become infected with the actual virus.

The spike protein is recognised as foreign by the immune system, which mounts an attack against it. Antibodies, B cells and T cells are activated, according to Uğur Şahin, the chief executive of the small German company BioNTech that co-developed the vaccine with US drug giant Pfizer. An immune memory is also laid down, he says, which means the immune system has learned how to defeat the pathogen and is primed to mount a swift response if it encounters the coronavirus again."

mRNA, lipids ((4-hydroxybutyl)azanediyl)bis(hexane-6,1-diyl)bis(2-hexyldecanoate), 2 [(polyethylene glycol)-2000]-N,N-ditetradecylacetamide, 1,2-Distearoyl-sn-glycero-3- phosphocholine, and cholesterol), potassium chloride, monobasic potassium phosphate, sodium chloride, dibasic sodium phosphate dihydrate, and sucrose.

The lipids are to allow for the mRNA to easily enter cells, the salts (sodiums) are there to help match the contents with the body (PH level etc). mRNA is difficult to keep stable and has to be kept at very low temperatures.

There is no mercury or other preservative in the Pfizer vaccine.

Imagining. Exactly.

You keep the current restrictions, there's no christmas shopping to do and you re-introduce shielding for those on the vaccine list with a specific vaccine furlough scheme. Cancel Feb half-term and add a week to the Christmas holidays so you have an extra week of kids off to research the new strain.

Something that doubles every 6 days when 6 days ago the major affected area was still in tier 2 shows you haven't taken due care in your assessment.

Can the schools not give them homework that is a bit easier and less time consuming? ;)
