Was due to take the family to London next weekend (planned on taking my lad to Chelsea away before it got rearranged/cancelled) but not sure if it's a good idea now. Can't get refunds for the train or hotel (or theatre tickets for the Sat night) so it'd leave me out of pocket but don't know if we want to be travelling around on the tube, in a busy theatre etc. Or is that an over the top reaction - should we just carry on as planned?
You'll probably get different opinions from some Ric, but in my view, EVERYONE should be avoiding mixing with crowds as much as possible. Some people - like supermarket staff for example - obviously don't have the luxury of being able to stay at home and some people will have to go out to get food etc. We are not China and cannot weld doors shut. So I think it is beholden upon everyone to do what they can. Not just for you, but to keep the infection rates as low as we possibly can and try to avert some of the disaster ahead. That's my view anyway.

I think that not going on public transport is a sensible precaution. None of my family are using it at the moment but luckily none of them need to and have alternatives.

I’m a little surprised by the lack of foresight of some of these news reporters. In light of Boris calling for industry to turn to ventilator production, I’m seeing people stating that this “suggests the government fear we don’t have enough”. Are they for real? We knew this with basic maths already. Our spare ventilators will last us the next 12 days or so. Then we’re done. We knew this, which is why we should have been in lockdown from a while back.
The Government have known this for years and certainly since this blew up in China in January. So this is a pathetically late response.

I wouldn't travel anywhere with public transport these days

Huge surge of cases in Japan today. More than doubled.

I think I've read somewhere it's the way they counting it, the new numbers, if I caught it good are including that cruiser cases, diamond princess or what it was it's name. Cruiser was mostly counted separately so far. Most of trackers I'm following still have Japan at some 800.

You wont have a choice. Rationally it's probably less risky than a lot of other activivites we all do but we can't assess risk properly at the moment.

I assumed that when it came to our health our government would seek to keep the virus out of the herd but they didn't, they had a very cynical plan.

They've been like that for weeks - we've got an epidemic you know. Just keep pouring the paraffin on what is already an incendiary situation - that's really intelligent.

No they haven't you could order last wednesday for delivery friday on tescos as I was gonna do it expecting my work to close, as it hasn't I just went instead as tbf I don't need a home delivery and using up a slot when I was passing the shops on the way home was unecessary.

If healthy people are booking out slots leaving those that need them most is a worry and worth discussing why do you want to shut down any conversation you don't like.

I think you’re right.

Not an issue as every toilet has a bum gun and adjoining bidet. I’ve not used loo roll in years.
I’ve thought for years how uncivilised wiping your arse with a piece of paper is compared to washing it. Can you imagine getting shit on literally any other part of your body and thinking it was ok to just wipe it off with a bit of paper?

Working down the smoke mate,
Week days its pretty busy on the tubes
But I think that will change tomorrow(will keep you updated)
Weekend going by the last few days have been pretty quite,roads/buses especially empty,But going by recent events I think theatres might get closed, rumours lastnight pubs might be closing very soon..

This should be borne in mind as a possibility for step-changes.
The testing regimen will dictate the numbers.
