COVID-19 — Coronavirus

What does the release say, and how have they changed advice?

The original said that there's no evidence that immunity is given after infection, as there isn't much data so far on level of immunity or length it would last. As a result, the immunity passport concept is not supported at the moment. (I don't think that's changed).

The amendment tweet says: "We expect that most people who are infected with #COVID19 will develop an antibody response that will provide some level of protection."
Previously they've said that people would mostly have an antibody response, but it may be very low in some cases. They mention that it can take 1-2 weeks to create an immunity/antibodies upon exposure (presumably a fast recovery/minor symptoms are too fast for the body to create a reaction?)
They expect based on other corona viruses and not on the current evidence on this one, they and nobody else is giving any certainty of immunity so far, they all agree, including our guys that the antibody tests are not specific enough to say to any individual patient off you go you are immune, whilst there are cases of reinvention to be investigated that will not change

just adding this article to the previous one from Porto University from medical findings from the Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan.

extract below - I suspect that CV19 will have a few parting gifts to leave us even after we have tamed/defeated.

Young and middle-aged people, barely sick with covid-19, are dying of stroke

Stroke surge
Reports of strokes in the young and middle-aged — not just at Mount Sinai, but also in many other hospitals in communities hit hard by the novel coronavirus — are the latest twist in our evolving understanding of the disease it causes. The numbers of those affected are small but nonetheless remarkable because they challenge how doctors understand the virus. Even as it has infected nearly 2.8 million people worldwide and killed about 195,000 as of Friday, its biological mechanisms continue to elude top scientific minds. Once thought to be a pathogen that primarily attacks the lungs, it has turned out to be a much more formidable foe — impacting nearly every major organ system in the body.

Shocking but not massively surprising as other viral infections pose the same risk unfortunately.

This was always going to be the case IMO. They were treading ultra carefully after their earlier mistakes which were blamed on bad data, now they have access to most, if not all of the data, they cannot make another big mistake. Every doctor had expected immunity as is the case with other viruses of this nature.
This is just not true

Yes it is worrying the more you learn. Anyone suggesting this is man made is classed as insane but it makes you wonder. Scientists playing around with the genetic make up of known viruses and either by accident or design it has created a monster that is now amongst us. As you say this time we really could be fucked.
The Oxford vaccine is man-made and uses genetic engineering.

Thanks.

I'm not sure why anyone this weekend would suddenly think the WHO would have said there would be no immunity - it sounds like people going off half-cocked and taking something in isolation based on what it didn't say.

I have tagged you into several things to show you they do not have a specific enough antibody test to say to anyone you are immune,go forth and muliply, every country I have seen agrees, the WHO haven't really made mistakes,it was assumed but is turning out not to be proven as yet

Learning more about this all the time - the first covid reported death in the U.S was from a heart attack caused by her own immune system which has recently been confirmed by autopsy. Think that’s enough negative news one for one day though let’s just hope the WHO are finally right about something re the antibody findings...

The forensic pathologist Judy Melinek, who was asked by the Chronicle to review the autopsy report, was quoted as saying: “There’s something abnormal about the fact that a perfectly normal heart has burst open … The heart has ruptured. Normal hearts don’t rupture.”

Course they made mistakes, they released a statement based on Chinese data to say it couldn't be spread between humans. They are others as well that we all know about.

My opinion is that they always thought that you would have immunity but didn't want to say without being certain, that's all.

Nothing new again. Scaremongering is getting ridiculous if the virus doesn't kill people the stress and worry will.

This fucking virus is throwing up all kinds of things that are not expected, add patients having to go on dialysis because it is wrecking their kidneys, that is why the scientist are careful about the immunity question,i hate and am fascinated by this thing in equal measure,if you can find the select committee from this week, probably repeated in bbc parliament channel then have a watch

Ah I thought we were just talking immunity don't know enough about the early days of the China outbreak to comment on who said what to whom about early data
I have yet to see them say anything concrete on immunity,we won't be certain till some time has passed and patients have been retested several times,as such i am taking no chances,i have had it and I do want to go through that again so I am not risking it
