The only places that are red are places where there's crazy infection rates, new variants or places that are likely to be troublesome for example transit hotspots (eg. UAE/Dubai).Weighing it up, I can't see anywhere in Europe going red this summer. I don't think we have the capacity to quarantine people en masse, it would be a disaster to allow travel and then pull it with large numbers of Brits Abroad that would then need to hotel quarantine. Another thing coming down the line is approx. 100k foreign students from red list countries at the end of the summer holiday period that will need to quarantine. We don't have the capacity to quarantine them and large numbers of Brits Abroad.
If you goto a more isolated holiday destination (Canaries, Balearics, Cyprus, Malta, Caribbean etc) then chances are they'll stay amber or better if they aren't red already.
We are booked to the US in September and we've all but given hope. They are seeing the start of another wave and I doubt the borders will open anytime before then but still they are amber which is the only reason why I think our flights are still set to go ahead. No doubt they are amber because the yanks are now allowed into the UK and we aren't going to say no to their business but it's a shame we can't go there..!
At the mo we are keeping the booking but looking at alternatives before we have to make a decision come balance payment day in August.
