Covid and travel discussion

Its unreal heat here mate still 30c now & its nearly midnight!! all restrictions are lifted, bars allowed to stay open till 5am, far too late for an oldy like me!! but the mythos goes down a treat :)

No idea where you are on the island but if it's Laganas, has the Indie bar opened on the strip? Next to Cocktails and dreams.
We were there last August bank holiday weekend and it seemed one of the better places to drink.....this was when it was strictly seated only and everyone turfed out at midnight on the dot.....very pleased to hear things have relaxed though I'm (sadly) also too old for a 5am session!

Yeh we’re in laganas mate, we only arrived on sun so haven’t been down the strip, top priority sun was finding a bar with city game on!! they’ve only been allowed to play music from this sunday so apparently the strip has been very quiet? should change now tho with the music situation

I've got Zante a week on Saturday....was supposed to be Kos but hotel closure enforced a change.

It's random testing on arrival in Greece I believe, and I've heard the lead passenger is the most likely person to be pulled up (if you're travelling 2+ on one booking)

I got pulled up for a test on arrival in Halkidiki last October but there wasn't any need to isolate in the room, could carry on with the holiday as normal and you'd only be contacted if it came back positive. Perhaps different destinations and islands had different policies though.

For anyone considering a jolly, Jet2 are almost giving away holidays to Greece at the end of the month/start of next.
Dont you have to isolate for 10 days in a designated hotel if anyone on the flight tests positive? Thats what it says on our government website.
Thats whats stopping me going, the thought of having to isolate for ages over there, never mind all the testing.

In all honesty I don't know, nor do I know how strictly that might be enforced by the Greeks.

I've seen various stories of people testing positive before they fly home and having to go into local quarantine, but not seen any stories of people going into local quarantine on arrival.

If it's putting you off then you're definitely much better off staying put at home; holidays remain tricky, no escaping that sadly.

Just to add this edit after giving it more thought....I'm sure we would have heard about it by now if Greece were quarantining whole flights based on a single positive arrival case. It may well be the official guidance, hence our Gov posting it, but in reality I don't think it's happening from what I've seen/read.

Came back from France yesterday, Tuesday. Eurotunnel going out was a breeze, same as any other year. Coming back, did a test at a local pharmacy and now have a 2-day test to do. Total cost for testing was 50 Euros in France and 56 pounds here. That's for two of us, not each.
Eurotunnel coming back also a breeze as we had uploaded documents a few days before traveling.

People where we were were enjoying life almost normally but with masks indoors mandatory, unless eating, etc.

I’ll hunt them out mate cheers, most places only seem to be serving mythos or heineken this season?
I'm normally a Rhodes holiday traveller but trust me Alpha shits all over Mythos, especially in bottles.

Can't for the life of me remember what the local beer was called (I was last over there for the 4-0 Wigan defeat...that long ago) but at that time it was nice.

Still a lot of uncertainty with Spain, next review is next week. Surely they can't put thousands of people in hotels?
